Your hosts are Donna and Ed who warmly welcome you to our unique property. After many years living and working in North Surrey / SW London border, we decided it was time for a change of pace and lifestyle. Donna, who originally comes from the local area, is a registered midwife and manages our original property in the village. Ed runs a digital marketing consultancy, and together we purchased Hen Cloud Cottage with the dream of creating a peaceful retreat where guests can experience the inimitable beauty and tranquillity of our area.

Mill Cottage is a fully-equipped self-catering holiday cottage for up to four people in the Peak District National Park.

Located beneath The Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks in the tiny hamlet of Upper Hulme, Mill Cottage is a fantastic home-from-home.

All of the major Peak attractions (Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, Shugborough, Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Ilam) are just a short drive away. It is perfect for walkers, hikers, climbers, cyclists, and those who want a cosy space in which to relax.

Mill Cottage, as the name suggests, was part of a silk-dyeing mill works, up until the early 1970s. Set in Upper Hulme, a tiny but busy hamlet between Leek and Buxton, there is a rich industrial heritage right on the cottage’s doorstep. A short walk up the farm track opposite the ford is the restored Dains Mill, said to date back to the 1500s. Churnet Valley (best explored on the Churnet Valley Railway) is packed with flint mills, copper works and old mine workings. Upper Hulme is home to several farms, and the old mill and dye works buildings now house some thriving businesses. For walkers and climbers, The Roaches and Hen Cloud are a ten-minute amble away. The views across the Peak District and west across Cheshire towards the Welsh border are simply stunning, and the climbing is world class.

Cyclists of all types and abilities will enjoy the challenges of the local hills, tracks and trails. In Mill Cottage you can find several local maps and trail guides to help you plan your walking or cycling route. ‘Ye Olde Rock Inn’ is a fantastic pub, a couple of minutes' walk up the hill from Mill Cottage. Here you’ll find a huge menu, a great bar and a welcoming atmosphere.
