We went to Alton Towers and this is the closest hotel to that other than the resort hotel, that’s why we chose it. Little did we know, we were in for a treat! It’s feels old and the Talbot next door is an amazing topping for the cake.

Lovely room, good amount of space. The kitchenette fits a fridge, 2 ring hob, microwave and sink into a small neat space. The refurbished room was pristine, the bed comfy. We stayed here in an emergency as our boiler had broken down and we needed to escape our very cold house. Our room was warm and we were able to have a hot shower and a comfortable night, and a hot meal at the Lymedale Bar and Restaurant next door.

This was a cheap overnight stay after a 2 hour delay on the M6. We expected basic and well used. We were very pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was lovely, the room very clean and modern, and the heating excellent. We will be using both this hotel and the chain again in future.

Alton is a stunning place.

Alton is a stunning place. The places to walk nearby and the views are spectacular. Our main reason for visiting Alton was of course for Alton Towers, I think massive credit where it is due. They have done a fantastic job maintaining a huge beautiful park full of trees and nature, and equally adding in amazing themed rides hidden among the trees and landscape. Just wow, there is nothing in the world quite like it. I would just urge other visitors to drive sensibly and respect the local area.

Lots to see and do, a visit to the monkey forest with our great grandchildren was well worth the visit. We tended to eat with our family in the evening, but always looked forward to our breakfast at the hotel in the morning. We needed more time to get around Stone, as it was only a short visit, but, we will be back. I'm looking forward to a walk along the canal.

· Told when got there 1 of beds were broke so had to put me and my son in separate rooms. He has autism so not good. The door in his room didnt lock from the outside so he had to sleep in the bed in the other room and I had to sleep on mattress on floor. There was a builders ton bag shoved up the chimney in the fireplace in the room . There was no colour on the tap for hot and cold it had fell off. The knob on the plug stick was missing. The towel rail was all rusty. No hair dryer. No kettle in the second room they put us in. The man who showed us to the room watched me struggle upstairs with a heavy bag and didn’t even offer to help. If we wasnt do tired I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. Defo would not recommend and won’t ever go again. There was blood down the toilet like as if a period pad had got stuff u could see it poking out in the toilet. Yea bags weren’t wrapped they were just chucked in a basket probably covered in dust. Paint on the carpet . Half the skirting board still there where they had cut it off to make the fire place. Chair back was broke . Had to walk through a scruffy back room to get to the stairs to our room .
