We're husband and wife team Claire and Alick. Between us we have years of experience managing large Scottish estates and 5 star properties, delivering exceptional hospitality. As the owners of Muir Estate we are passionate about carrying on the proud heritage and giving people a unique experience in this special corner of Scotland. We previously owned and ran Woodcroft House which we achieved 5 stars by Visit Scotland and won the Best Guest House in Scotland 2022 voted by the Good Hotel Guide. We also have a 2 bed property, The Bothy at Mid Torrie just 3 miles away and soon to have an additional 1 bed, The Long House, also at Mid Torrie Farm. So if guests need more rooms this is an option. We work hard to ensure we are as self sufficient as we can be. Currently we produce our own lamb, venison, and soon we will have our own eggs and we are thrilled to be able to share this with our guests. Alick is very experienced in managing livestock, coming from a long line of Orkney farmers and previously managed Glenlyon Estate in highland Perthshire. So as soon as we bought this place we set to work putting up deer fences to form parks where we now have a herd of 79 deer, and a majestic stock stag called Otto. We have also fenced off some of the ancient woodland where we graze our sheep in the winter. We both share the same principles and values, that our animals will be treated with kindness and be given the best life possible while they are with us on Muir Estate.

Tucked away between Thornhill and the popular tourist village Callander, nestled in 188-acres of private woodland and grazing pasture, The Lodge, is a 6 bedroom house that sleeps 10-14 adults and 2 infants. The beds are super king/king size and 5 beds split into twins. The property has a wood burning hot tub and pizza oven, and a stone BBQ. It's the perfect haven to escape the madness of the modern world, to chill out and enjoy much needed time together.
