Scarasdal is run by my sister Melissa and me, together with our families. We’ve created this small holiday retreat with warmth and care, and we truly enjoy welcoming guests to our special corner of the Highlands. Whether you’re travelling for adventure, relaxation or family time, we’re here to help make your stay memorable. Welcome to Scarasdal is a cosy two‑bedroom bungalow set in the tranquil Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer, just off the A835 on the NC500 route. The home features a spacious living room, a bright dining room and a large, fully enclosed garden, making it an ideal place to unwind and reconnect with nature. The bungalow is strictly non‑smoking, and for safety no naked flames or candles are permitted indoors. Surrounded by beautiful nature walks, a charming local golf course and the village’s rich Victorian heritage, Scarasdal offers a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently located, with local shops and places to eat just a 15‑minute walk away and Inverness only 20 -25 miles from the doorstep.
We live nearby and are happy to help you make the most of your visit, whether you’re looking for great places to eat, local walks, or things to see and do in the area. Check‑in is simple and flexible, with a key safe that lets you arrive and depart at a time that suits you. We just ask that you let us know when you’ve arrived and when you’re leaving, and if you expect to arrive after 8pm, please get in touch beforehand so we can make sure everything is ready for you. Before your stay, we’ll send you an email with directions and the code for the key safe, and you’ll also have our contact details throughout your visit should you need any assistance. Our aim is to make your stay as smooth, comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Strathpeffer is a picturesque Victorian spa village tucked into the wooded hills of Easter Ross in the Highlands of Scotland. Just 20–25 miles from Inverness, it feels like a peaceful step back in time, with its grand period architecture, leafy surroundings and gentle pace of life. Historically renowned for its mineral springs, once declared the healthiest in Britain, the village grew into a fashionable 19th‑century health resort, attracting visitors from across Europe. Much of this heritage still shapes its character today, from the restored Pump Room to the elegant Spa Pavilion and the old Victorian railway station. The station houses the Highland Museum of Childhood, offering a charming and nostalgic look at childhood in the Highlands through toys, stories and artefacts in a lovingly restored setting. Outdoor lovers will find Strathpeffer an ideal base. The village is surrounded by scenic walking trails, from the gentle woodland paths of Blackmuir Wood, where red squirrels and birds of prey are often spotted to more challenging routes such as The Cat’s Back (Druim Chat) ridge, which rewards walkers with sweeping views across the valley to Ben Wyvis. For those interested in ancient sites, the mysterious Eagle Stone, a Pictish carving said to protect the village, is a short walk from the centre. Not far away is Knock Farril, an Iron Age hill fort offering panoramic views across the Cromarty Firth and the surrounding mountains. Castle Leod, considered one of Scotland’s best-preserved historic homes. Seat of the Clan Mackenzie for over 500 years, the castle is steeped in history and offers guided tours in summer. It is also widely thought to be the inspiration for “Castle Leoch” in the Outlander series. Seeking adventure? the area offers mountain‑biking trails through forest tracks, scenic drives along the North Coast 500 route, and easy access to the Black Isle and nearby distilleries. You can enjoy a round a the Strathpeffer Golf Club, and eat locally.
