Stunning location with beautiful views. Lovely walks rights from the front door . Loved the “Pickled Postie” , a post office that doubles up as a Deli and cafe. Superb breakfast. Also the Village cafe again a great location for brunch. Lisa our...

On the edge of the historic village of Cawood and a short drive from York, this charming Grade II listed home blends heritage, comfort and countryside charm. Steeped in medieval history, this grand and spacious 2-bedroom home is believed to have been constructed using the original 15th-century bricks salvaged directly from Cawood Castle after its partial destruction in the Civil War. Set over three floors, it’s full of character and light, with fabulous views across open countryside. The kitchen leads to a spacious dining room with characterful original floors and a cosy wood burner, perfect for relaxed evenings. A handsome white staircase leads to a lounge looking over wonderful views and sits beside a light-filled bathroom. Here you’ll find a large bedroom with a super king bed. Head upstairs to a second bedroom with breathtaking views and a king bed dressed in crisp white linen. Outside, a private garden sits at the side of the house. There’s also off-street parking for one car at the rear. This peaceful retreat, within walking distance of Cawood Castle, and Cawood’s riverside walks, café, pubs and village shop, is an inviting place to unwind and enjoy the charm of a welcoming historic home. 5 mins walk to the village centre, 10 mins drive to Selby Abbey and the York Designer Outlet. Allerthorpe Lakeland Park for water sports is 35 mins, Scalm Park Leisure for golf and fishing is 10 mins. Carlton Towers 25 mins Perfect for day trips to York Christmas Markets, York University, Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, the North Yorkshire Moors and coastal spots like Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.
Our family’s connection to this house goes back more than 90 years. We are siblings and this house is part of our heritage and whilst we no longer live locally, we want to share this special place with others. We love walking and the house provides the perfect base, for this.
Set on the edge of the historic village of Cawood, the house enjoys a peaceful setting opposite the river and close to the village church. Cawood itself is a charming, friendly village with a rich history, once home to the Archbishops of York. Guests can stroll to the café, pubs, and local shop, or enjoy scenic riverside and countryside walks right from the door. The vibrant city of York is just a short drive away, offering world-class heritage, independent shops, and excellent restaurants. The surrounding area is ideal for exploring the landscapes and coastline of North Yorkshire, from the rolling Howardian Hills, the Yorkshire Moors and the seaside at Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Scarborough.
