The Shepherds Hut is located in a quiet wooded corner set in its own private garden. 2 miles from Dorchester and located directly next to a bridleway/cycle path there are lovely walks in the area including about 30 minutes walk directly to Maiden Castle, a very large iron age hill fort. Cosy and insulated, the hut has a wood burner (and discrete electric heating) for cooler days and under the dappled shade of mature trees keeps cool in the summer. An outside decking area has seating , a wood fired pizza oven and a barbeque. There is a hammock which you can easily clip between the trees and while away a peaceful afternoon. Inside is a standard double bed, kitchen area with microwave combi oven, fridge, gas hob and kettle, toaster and all the standard kitchen equipment you need. Bath towels, hand towels, tea towels and bed linen are provided. Toilet roll and hand wash is provided. Wood and kindling are provided for the wood burner and you are welcome to use this in the wood fired pizza oven but you may prefer to bring your own kiln dried wood for an easier experience.

Hi, I'm Sheena, I have been enjoying hosting guests in my Shepherds Hut since 2020. My work is teaching pottery which I'm lucky enough to do from my studio in the garden. I have 2 jack Russell dogs Dottie and Phyllis who enjoy exploring with me. I'm usually about and happy to help if you have a query but tend to try to leave you in peace and privacy to enjoy the shepherds hut.

we are on the edge of the lovely Dorset village of Martinstown. The Brewers Arms pub is a 15 minute walk away and serves delicious pub meals and great local beers. Also in the village is a small shop and Post office providing all your basic essentials. Eweleaze dairy has a 24 hour milk machine at the end of our lane where you can get organic milk, local cheeses and eggs and the most amazing homemade icecream. Its a 2 mile drive to t Tesco or Lidl on the edge of Dorchester for a more comprehensive shop and to buy pizza dough or charcoal etc. Lots to do in the area depending on your preferences. Weymouth is 6 miles away for a traditional seaside town with beach donkeys, sand sculpture and fish and chips. Dorchester has a fab museum, loads of eateries and independent shops. Beautiful countryside all around with plenty of places to get some peace and fresh air.
