Stone House
Stone House is renowed locally as not only is it a beautiful example of a Grade 2 Georgian House it also has historical interest being the home of Sir James Watts (of the steam engine fame). It is situated on Offa's Dyke path overlooking the stunning Radnorshire countryside, so ideally located for all passing walkers, no deviation from the path required! My 3 rooms all have en-suites and have been sympathetically upgraded each with a very comfortable zip and link king size bed! Guests have access to their own sitting room which has a TV and Fire (for the colder months), I serve breakfast and supper (if required) in the dining room. When the weather is good guests are welcome to wander around the garden and maybe play a game of croquet, darts or just sit and enjoy the panoramic views with a Gin & Tonic, alternatively when the evenings turn colder I have a great selection of board games on offer. Stone House is a step above the normal B&B, not only do you get to stay in a historial and stunning house; the many extras I include, such as complimentary homemade cake and tea on arrival to pre dinner drinks and nibbles in the evening, Stone House is the ideal place to get away from the hussle and bussle of life!
It's a family affair....I'm Emma (Mum), owner, host, cleaner and chef at Stone House ably assisted by my 3 daughters when they are not away at University. We love the outdoors and our 2 cocker spaniels make sure we are out exploring our beautiful surroundings daily. For the last 25 years our lives have been dominated by horses, which is obvious by the few photos on show! However we now have liveries in the front field and in the absence of our own horses I have now taken to my 2 feet and have just completed my first 10k with my eldest..... We have run our B&B for nearly 4 years and love sharing our home, guests appreciate the peace and tranquility in our little corner of Wales. It is a very special place and we are lucky to wake up here every day and you can too!
Stone House is situated on the north east side of the Brecon Beacons and we are perfectly placed for you to explore the area either on foot, by bike or by car. Stone House is just outside the lovely village of Gladestry which is situated at the base of Hergest Ridge. Take a walk from our front door onto the ridge and turn right for the beautiful Hergest Gardens and Tea Rooms or turn left for a well earned pinit and pie in our local pub, The Royal Oak, either way you will be spoilt with beautiful views into both Wales and England. Being on Offa's Dyke the more adventerous could walk the path to the infamous Hay-on-Wye or for a more gentile day out, Hay is just a short 25 minutes drive away, it is a beautiful small town full of independent shops and lots of books! Visit Elan valley, watch the kite feeding in Rhayder, discover 'water-breaks-its-neck' waterfall, follow the Black & White tour or visit some of our wonderful castles, Clyro and Bronllys being just over 30 minutes away. Rumage through the basket of leaflets and maps situated in the hall for more ideas for days out.
