Pete and I moved to Cornwall to embrace the peace, beauty and slower pace of life that this stunning county offers — and it’s something we love sharing with our guests. The Lodge is ideally located in the charming village of Polgooth, a historic former mining village just a short walk away and around three miles from the picturesque harbour town of Mevagissey. In Polgooth, you’ll find a well-stocked village shop and Post Office offering a great selection of local produce, including freshly baked bread, traditional Cornish pasties, fruit, vegetables and everyday essentials. The village is also home to the popular Polgooth Inn — a traditional Cornish pub serving hearty home-cooked food and local ales. In the summer, you can enjoy live music on Sunday evenings, while in winter the cosy open fires make it the perfect place to unwind. A number of beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Porthpean Beach is a lovely sandy bay and a great starting point for coastal walks, including the scenic route to Charlestown Harbour — a Georgian harbour often used as a filming location, including for Poldark. Here you can explore the Shipwreck Museum, see traditional tall ships, and enjoy a selection of cafés, shops and restaurants. Nearby Pentewan Sands offers another expansive sandy beach, along with access to a peaceful off-road walking and cycling trail that leads either to the coast or the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan.
