In June 2026, we, Tony & Aline, were delighted to take over The Lychgate from Janice, who successfully owned and operated the business since 2014. Janice built an excellent reputation for friendly hospitality, comfort, and attention to detail, and we are committed to maintaining the high standards that guests have come to expect and enjoy. Having fallen in love with both The Lychgate and the surrounding area, we're excited to continue welcoming visitors to this beautiful part of Monmouthshire. With the Forest of Dean nearby, stunning walking and cycling routes on our doorstep, and plenty of wonderful local pubs and attractions to explore, there's something for everyone to enjoy. To ensure a smooth and convenient experience, The Lychgate continues to offer self check-in, continental self-service breakfast, and payment at the time of booking. While you may not always meet us during your stay, please be assured that we are always available should you need assistance. We believe in giving guests the freedom to relax and enjoy their visit without unnecessary interruption. The Lychgate has a lovely homely feel to it, being over 100 years old it has lovely big ceilings with lots of large windows to let in the Welsh sunshine! Please note that The Lychgate now operates on a self check-in basis. Full check-in details will be provided before your arrival. Breakfast is self serve continental type. It is very much self service.

Caldicot Castle in 55 acres is a 2 minute walk across the road from me, the castle is free to enter and has a lovely coffee shop and bar with a log fire to just sit and chill next too,, It is open from March to November The Castle also holds various events throughout the year from reenactments to open air cinemas to funfairs and the famous VW Festival. Tintern and Chepstow are a short car ride away aswell, offering a host of activities for the whole family. Cardiff is 30 minutes and 2 stops away on the train,perfect for a rugby getaway ! Bristol is also a short train ride away, and of course Wales has plenty of castles to explore.,,great fun for all the family. Monmouthshire is a beautiful county with some lovely places to visit,,all close by, Usk, Raglan, Chepstow, Tintern and The Forest of Dean .
