"I had a wonderful time in Newport. My favourite places were the beautiful waterfront, the city centre, and the peaceful parks, which were perfect for relaxing and sightseeing. I enjoyed eating at local cafés and restaurants, where I found a great variety of delicious meals and friendly service. Getting around Newport was easy. The public transport was reliable, and many attractions were within walking distance, making it convenient to explore the city. As a solo traveller, I enjoyed walking along the waterfront, visiting local shops, exploring historical sites, relaxing in parks, and trying different cafés and restaurants. "it's a real town, not just a beautiful tourist magnet. we stayed downtown in old lodge above pub-loved how quirky it was. we rested and regrouped in monmouth. took walk in the fields across the river and around town. i enjoyed the bookstores and thrift stores. i was really impressed with the green walls of the public restrooms by the historic bridge which had gorgeous flowers which inspired me to paint."

Very smart modern bedrooms with all facilities, plus a great, comfortable, interesting and characterful old bar to enjoy a beer in. A lovely combination. Parking opposite and for motorbikes behind the hotel. Very good food. Strongly recommended (as long as they never modernise the bar!)

What a lovely building inside and out with beautiful gardens too. Cheerful, helpful staff. Our room, in the main Manor House, was comfortable and spacious with wonderful views over the town. The wood pannelled bar was comfortable and as we were the only guests for the first night the lovely receptionist served us. Magnificent fireplaces. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Looked like a beautiful place for an event. Really nice to have great service in a proper hotel.

I’ve stayed at the Three Tuns a few times. I prefer the double rooms as they are more spacious and bathroom more luxurious, but the single room I stayed in on this visit was very quaint and still comfortable. Excellent breakfast is included. Much better than the usual buffet breakfasts that are very often offered. There are a stairs to rooms. Which may be problem for anyone who has mobility issues, but not for most people.

Everything, from checking in at reception—where the lovely receptionist gave my daughter a little bag of treats—to settling into the beautiful room with a charming balcony overlooking the Christmas decorations, and finally enjoying dinner at the grill, was absolutely top-notch. It was worth every penny, and I will definitely be coming back!

The staff were particularly nice and accommodating.the room was spotless and the comments about it being dated are unfair, it is class and quality in my opinion. I would definitely stay here again but I would eat at their restaurant rather than locally as it is very appealing and the pub we went to was exceptionally underwhelming.

Very near to town centre - lovely choice of breakfast. New rooms (very clean and modern) had been built at back of hotel which enabled you to park your car next to your room. Lovely and quiet at back of hotel so had a good night's sleep.

Outstanding place, 24/7 reception, amazing location and the mini apartments are great. For the price of a small hotel room you get a two room apartment, everything is squeaky clean, all facilities work properly and the bed is comfy.

Lovely town with some great pubs and restaurants and lovely old buildings including the famous Chepstow castle. A couple of the pubs and public spaces were a bit dodgy but you can spot them easily enough. We are going back again soon. The IL FIORE Italian restaurant in Nelson St. is excellent. The Boat Inn and the Three Tuns are also great pubs. Avoid the Beaufort Hotel- fine for a drink but not a great stay.

We loved this little town.

We loved this little town. Lots of places to visit, too many for our short stay. My grandparents lived here and I last visited as a young man, some 40 years ago! The town itself has a lovely atmosphere with restaurants and bars in the area. We found a lovely menswear shop, Revue on Castle street, and this had some lovely clothing. We plan on returning more often

Usk is a small pretty town.

Usk is a small pretty town. It has a lot of pubs and a chip shop. There is a small selection of little shops and a co-op. We went for a walk along the river and it was very pleasant there is a playing field on one side we did a short circular route but there are other walks. Car parking was free (where we parked) this was by the Usk rural life museum. We could not visit the castle as it is apparently only open on Sundays as it is in private grounds which was a shame.

After the recent flooding the town has pulled together to get 'back to normal'. A few businesses were still shut when we visited, but the town has so much to offer every 'reopening' is a bonus. Wonderful coffee shops and restaurants and lots of private unique shops - well worth a visit any time of the year. On top of that the historic buildings, the Wye valley and the Forest of Dean are all local - what's not to like?
