I’ve stayed at the Three Tuns a few times. I prefer the double rooms as they are more spacious and bathroom more luxurious, but the single room I stayed in on this visit was very quaint and still comfortable. Excellent breakfast is included. Much better than the usual buffet breakfasts that are very often offered. There are a stairs to rooms. Which may be problem for anyone who has mobility issues, but not for most people.

Lovely town with some great pubs and restaurants and lovely old buildings including the famous Chepstow castle. A couple of the pubs and public spaces were a bit dodgy but you can spot them easily enough. We are going back again soon. The IL FIORE Italian restaurant in Nelson St. is excellent. The Boat Inn and the Three Tuns are also great pubs. Avoid the Beaufort Hotel- fine for a drink but not a great stay.

My main goal and reason to visit historic chepstow, Wales,...

My main goal and reason to visit historic chepstow, Wales, was to visit and experience chepstow's remarkable large castle above the flowing river Wye. The castle is standing, mostly intact after nearly a thousand years. It's owned by Cadw, the Welsh government and reasonably priced to enter. A easy to-use audio guide gives useful and interesting history about the different fazes of the castle's life. As a blind person, I found the audio guide very useful. Most of the castle is accessible to the majority of disabled people. No cafe in the castle but a paid car park and a pub, the 3 tuns, are nearby. Chepstow has lots of history for those interested and seems a fascinating, mainly peaceful town. Whilst the town is fairly compact, walking isn't that easy. Many steep hills and not many strait roads or streets. Locals may no their way about, it's a bit harder for visitors. Chepstow has a train station linking the town with Newport and Cardiff to the west and Cheltenham, Gloucester and Bristol to the east in England. The 3 Tuns pub near the castles seems a nice place - has friendly staff and serves food at lunchtime. I don't know about shops and shopping. Chepstow does have a medium size museum offering insights into the town's long history. People seem quiet and friendly. I will visit again.

If you are thinking of traveling to Wales, be sure to put a visit to Chepstow on your tour. The historic town center of is worth the trip. Coffee shops, bistros, boutiques, central fountains, medieval gates in the remnants of the old town walls, St Mary's Priory Church, and the amazing Castle Chepstow are waiting for your indulgence! From Chepstow one can also travel easily to Tintern Abbey, Monmouth, Cardiff and the southern coast as well.

THIS HOTEL was a historic building where my Great Great Grand parents stayed when making strong iron for the Wye Bridge to TUTSHILL (Now being restored) It was where my secondary school was located. Many people stay here when visiting the Racecourse, walking the Offa's Dyke or visiting historic monuments like Chepstow or Caldicot Castle,

Had the most enjoyable day out in Chepstow, visiting the Castle and town. Parish church is also worth a visit. Chepstow historic town center clearly affected by the Tesco store on the edge of town. But do not let this put you off wandering up & down the High Street. People friendly and during my visit, there was a good sized market in the High Street, with wonderful singing from a local choir, which produced a good verve.

Right in the middle of town, very handy for everything. We had been going to a concert at Racecourse but was cancelled due to the flooding. Staff at the hotel were very welcoming and sympathetic, with the owner even offering a free drink to everyone who had been disappointed at the cancelled event. Generous tea and coffee in room, lovely breakfast. Shopkeepers in Chepstow also very friendly.

The location was excellent, with car parking on the car park opposite. Easy access complexity of pubs and the town centre. The staff extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast was hand cooked to order. The room was clean and we were given the access codes on the morning of our arrival, so getting in to the property was easy.
