The Rowe House is a delightful Georgian property in the Yorkshire Dales village of Horton in Ribblesdale set within half an acre of grounds, with a walled garden which we plant to provide fresh produce for our breakfasts and special dinners. The guest accommodation consists of 4 rooms in the house and a self contained holiday let renovated from stone barns in the main garden. B&B rates include a highly rated breakfast, April to October guests staying in The Shippon can also indulge in breakfast taken in The Rowe House. The main house was completely renovated during 2017-18 to a high standard, including renewing the old oil fired central heating for more enviromentally friendly air source heat pumps and log burning stoves for guests to cosy up in front of on colder evenings and mornings. We are pleased to be able to welcome our guests to a superb location in the heart of the 3 Yorkshire Peaks, the start of the 3 Peak Challenge and also many, many more local walks and attractions, together with being just a 5mins walk from the railway station on the Settle to Carlisle train line. Perfect for visits to the Yorkshire Dales, The Lakes and Forest of Bowland. Horton in Ribblesdale is certainly Location, Location.
Robert and Jane semi retired to Horton in Ribblesdale in 2017 to enable them to fulfil their dream of moving to an area where they can walk from the door into beautiful countryside and enjoy the hospitality side of the catering industry in a more relaxed way. We are now looking forward to retirement and only now offer The Shippon self catering facility. Previously Robert, ran our high class outside event catering company since 1997, he has always been a chef and has worked in 5* London establishments as chef patisserie before setting up Chalfont Classic Cuisine Ltd in 1997. We have a passion for supporting local producers and Fairtrade initiatives together with helping to improve the environment in which we live. Hence our investment in greener energy and growing as much of our own produce as possible. We only serve free range meat and eggs and would love to have some chickens so that we can offer our own fresh eggs. Chalfont Classic Cuisine, our catering company, had a reputation for the high quality of its produce and the attention to detail for every event and item Robert produced on the menu. Jane assisted with the business and front of house as well as working as a radiographer in Epilepsy Research. So now we look forward to sharing his culinary skills over some great breakfasts and occasional pre booked dinners, together with making your stay as relaxed and enjoyable as possible in our fantastic home in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
Horton in Ribblesdale is in The 3 Yorkshire Peaks, with views of Pen y Ghent from The Rowe House. Horton has 2 pubs, St Oswalds Norman church and a main line railway station just 400m from the property.. Walks start from our door, including the start of the 3YP challenge and just 400m from The Pennine Way, half day walks to the summits of Pen y Ghent and Ingleborough. The main line railway station is just a 5 minute walk, first stop on The Settle Carlisle Railway, next stop the famous Ribblesdale viaduct, giving access to the other peak Whernside. Take a scenic trip on one of the most iconic railways to Appleby or Carlisle. Scenic drives to other Dales are not to be missed, Hawes in Wensleydale is just 30mins beautiful drive, home to the Wensleydale creamery made famous by Wallace and Grommet.
