Tilly Cottage is set in the heart of the peaceful village of Blacko, bordering The Forest of Bowland and surrounded by the most beautiful countryside landscapes in all directions. It is a an elevated and light and deceptively spacious stone built period cottage, with a spectacular view from the wall-to-wall window and balcony that enables guests to take in and enjoy the ever changing evening sunsets directly over to Pendle Hill while enjoying a bottle of wine. (Pictured photo taken by a guest from the balcony). The cottage is well heated on colder months with central heating on demand and flickering fire in the lounge you will find the functional kitchen woodburner an optional third form of heat. The Cottage is lucky enough to be close to a variety of food serving country inns with real fires, a quaint little cafe/breakfast bar sat alone on the country road just a minute away, and with a variety of restaurants and wine bars in the village of Barrowford you will be spoiled for choice.
There will be a Welcome Pack on arrival however the host, Anne, will ensure the door is open at check in time and be available to meet arriving guests at check in if required. She is available to speak to at any time throughout the stay and is never far away so should guests need any information, at any time, please do not hesitate to contact her.
Tilly Cottage is situated into the heart of the peaceful and pretty village of Blacko, once homeland of the Lancashire witches), and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and panoramic views over to Pendle Hill. There is a small village pub just a stones throw from Tilly Cottage, and just a minutes drive away, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast at Hamishes while looking over the rolling hills towards Pendle Hill. Dropping down into Roughlee (round the corner from the Cottage you will find The Bay Horse, (food serving country inn) and a further mile will take you to The Pendle Inn, Barley. (The foot of Pendle Hill). Both these Inns are dog friendly with serving food from lunchtime to evenings. The Assheton Arms, Downham is a lovely scenic 10 min drive from Tilly Cottage taking you literally around to the other side of Pendle Hill. The views of the hill are spectacular. Just half a mile down from Tilly Cottage (1 min in car) is the small village of Barrowford where you will find a supermarket, an array of wine bars, indian and italian restaurant, Heritage Centre (tourist information and extensive information on the Lancashire Witches), and country park. Also, within minutes from the cottage, you can drop down onto the canal at Barrowford Locks and walk through the pretty nature reserves. Whether you meander the country lanes round Pendle Hill, through the most beautiful landscapes of The Forest of Bowland on your doorstep, stop off at the array of country inns; visit Skipton or Clitheroe (2 neighbouring historic towns and 'gateway to the Yorkshire Dales', take a trip to Haworth, home of the Bronte authors, or take the back scenic roads to the Lake District, (just some of the things you can do), or even just chill nestled in this cosy cottage watching sunsets over Pendle Hill, you will are sure to have a lovely stay.
