Twenty Queen Street is a serviced 5 star (Visit Britain) stylish townhouse perfect for 1-3 business travellers or up to 5 guests wishing to explore the Southern Lakes and Morecambe Bay. It's a spacious house with two receptions and three bedrooms (2 doubles & 1 single) over three floors. The lounge on the ground floor has a huge comfy sofa, widescreen TV and games, and the upstair's with armchairs, cosy fire, small flatscreen and honesty bar. The kitchen and conservatory on the ground floor are bright, well equipped with a dining table for six. The modern bathroom on the top floor has a large bath, rain shower and toilet. We have added a sauna and shower in the cellar - an additional 'spa' type space to relax and revive. We provide pampering touches such as robes, a small welcome pack and the use of our concierge service, should you require help with any special arrangements. We've also had lots of lovely press coverage including The Guardian, The Independent and Country Homes and Interiors and we were voted 4th best place to stay in Cumbria by The Times.
I live in London, but grew up in this area ...I come here whenever I can ! I love the tranquility of the Lakes and the bustle of this small market town. People are friendly, pubs so jolly, Ulverston is a charming old market town which nestles between the surrounding Lakeland hills and the wide expanse of Morecambe Bay. I come here to relax, to hike, to swim, to eat wholesome local food and to laugh with the locals !
Ulverston, nestled between the striking Lakeland landscape and spectacular Morecambe Bay, is a bustling old market town well-known for it's cobbled streets, cosy country pubs, the Laurel and Hardy Museum (Stan's birthplace) and its Thursday and Saturday markets. It is a festival town, with lots of interesting events - egg rolling at Easter, a dragon chase on St.George's Day, a summer Carnival (July), an evening lantern procession in the Autumn (mid-September), Flag Fortnight and a grand Dickensian Christmas wk-end (last Sat of Nov). It is also the start or finish of the famous Cumbrian Way. The surrounding area is one of contrast - the Lake District National Park or the isolated coastline of Morecambe Bay. It's a beautiful drive to Lake Windermere and Coniston Water (both app 8 miles) where you'll find miles of footpaths and water sports, Lakeland Steamers and rowing boats. Along the coast, you could visit Piel Island (it has it's own King!) after a short ferry and from here you can charter boats for seal watching.
