Perhaps the jewel in the crown is the spacious, sunny, courtyard garden which is a delight and a lovely place to spend the day or a warm evening with the BBQ. Waterloo Cottage is ideally suited to walkers, cyclists and anyone wishing to explore this beautiful county. Bowes Museum is an easy 10 minute walk and is a must for visitors to the region

Waterloo Cottage is within easy walking distance from all that Barnard Castle has to offer; fabulous shops, bars and restaurants along with the magnificent Bowes Museum and of course the Castle itself. Originally built as a 'workers' cottage in the 19th Century, the cottage was extensively renovated in the 1970's. We have managed to obtain photos of the renovation and these are displayed in the kitchen.
