A lovely cottage that is literally home from home. The hosts have achieved that elusive ability to make your stay like your in friends home as opposed to a holiday let. Seriously well equipped, big softy comfy beds and duvets, tasteful...

It was so peaceful and spacious. Easy to get to from the A1 and not far to York park and ride via A64.

The Cottage is a cosy English countryside retreat set beside the River Wharfe in the peaceful village of Ulleskelf, just a short train ride from York. Dating back to 1865, the cottage is full of character, with quaint wonky walls, low ceilings, a crackling fire and warm, homely interiors designed for relaxed family stays. Guests love the peaceful rural setting, river views, outdoor space, comfortable indoor areas and well-equipped kitchen. It is especially suited to families, dog owners and groups wanting quality time together whether that’s playing board games by the fire, enjoying morning coffee on the veranda overlooking Bolton Ings, cooking together in the kitchen, or heading out for countryside walks. The cottage sleeps up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms and includes a ground-floor bedroom with a nearby WC and walk-in shower, which is helpful for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. There is free private parking for up to 5 cars, WiFi, a dedicated workspace, and self check-in for an easy arrival. One of the most special features is the riverside setting, with two private seasonal fishing pegs available for guests who enjoy river fishing. The location gives you the best of both worlds: a peaceful countryside escape, while still being around 9-12 minutes by train to York and around 23–29 minutes to Leeds. We want guests to feel instantly at home, so the cottage is professionally cleaned before every stay, with freshly laundered and ironed bedding, thoughtful home comforts and a welcome basket on arrival. As hosts, we’re always happy to share local recommendations for walks, pubs, restaurants, days out and hidden gems nearby.
Hi, I’m Stephanie. My family have lived at the Cottage for three generations, so it’s a home with real history and a lot of heart. Even my friend’s auntie was born here, which makes it feel like a little piece of village life. I love hosting because it means other families, friends and dog owners get to enjoy the same peaceful countryside setting we’ve loved for years - river views, cosy nights in, walks from the door and easy trips into York. We want every guest to feel relaxed, welcome and completely at home during their stay.
