Welcome to Wheelgate, a charming Lakeland house with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Situated in a peaceful location just a stone's throw from Coniston Water, the house is surrounded by the beautiful lake and mountain scenery of Coniston. Our attractively-designed bedrooms, oak-beamed lounge, cosy bar and superb breakfasts make Wheelgate the perfect Lakeland retreat. We look forward to welcoming you to our B&B in Coniston. We do not allow pets in the hotel. This is our home also and we have our own pets. These will not be in the presemce of guests unless requested. From May 17, 2021 breakfast will be avialble in your room - Toasted Sausage or bacon sandwich, cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, tea or coffee. Neighborhood info

Coniston Water is about five miles long and half a mile wide. Above its western shore, the mountain of the Old Man of Coniston towers above the lake and the village. A beautiful setting for a holiday or business traveller. The lake is about half a mile down from the village, where you can hire boats and bikes from Coniston Boating Centre (opens in new window). There are shops, pubs and places to eat in the village. Brantwood (opens in new window) overlooking the eastern shore, John Ruskin's home, is open to visitors with its beautiful gardens and views. The Ruskin Museum (opens in new window) in the village features an exhibition about Sir Donald Campbell, who was killed in 1967 making an attempt on the world speed record in his speedboat Bluebird.
