Set on the outskirts of Great Smeaton with its very own family run pub, The Black Bull Inn and within easy reach of the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales National Park and North Yorkshire Coast, Willowgarth House is an excellent base for exploring. The bustling market town of Northallerton is a twelve minute drive, with twice weekly markets (Wednesday and Saturday) and a sought-after high street with many independent shops and eateries including one of Yorkshire's favourite, Bettys Tearoom. Northallerton station is the perfect place to hop on the East Coast Mainline and visit York or Durham for the day. A 20 minute drive west will take you to the historic market town of Richmond, home to Richmond Station, now a wonderful venue housing a cinema, art gallery with changing exhibitions and the fantastic shop at The Station. Enjoy food and drink businesses including The Angel's Share Bakery, and Archers Jersey Ice cream. From the station, there's a beautiful and relatively flat four mile walk along the river Swale towards the ruins of Easby Abbey Further afield discover the North York Moors offering peace and tranquillity, for families, groups and individuals looking to explore the great outdoors.
