Wooden Cabbage Barn is situted in the beautiful West Dorset countryside, 1 mile from Halstock, and within 25 minutes' drive from Dorchester. This charming oak barn, handmade in 2004 and with own garage parking, has magnificent views across the valley. The spacious individually designed studio consists of 'rooms' incorporating a bedroom area, sitting room, kitchen and dining area, and entrance space with shower room off. The studio is on the first floor accessed by a wide handmade oak staircase. Relax in the garden with deck chairs in the orchard, or garden furniture on the terrace to enjoy the views and sunsets. You can enjoy country walks and lovely views around the surrounding woodland and valleys. The Jurassic Coast is approximately 14 miles away.

The wonderful views and the peace and quiet at Wooden Cabbage are regularly commented on by our guests. As are the starlit skies as we have little if any, light pollution. Summer evenings boast wonderful sunsets, and if you like to eat out we have two very good dining pubs within 3 miles. The Barn has a very calm atmosphere and offers a great feeling of space. The super king size bed is most comfortable and fitted with white linen. The kitchen is fitted with an electric hob and oven, though some guests prefer a good ready meal (for ease) in the microwave. Walks from the doorstep, the seaside and coastal paths are within half an hour's drive; or spend an afternoon relaxing with a book in the orchard here.
The garden keeps us busy and guests always enjoy admiring our veg patch, and lovely Roses and Sweet Peas in the summer months. We have even built a lovely thatched folly in which to sit and admire the views. We like to travel a lot and have interesting stories to tell.
We have wonderful gardens and houses nearby to visit, or walk some of the coastal paths within a half hour drive. The National Garden Scheme also has smaller local gardens to visit which change on a daily/weekly basis. Sculptures by the Lakes near Dorchester is very popular and makes a lovely day out if you have a light lunch there too. Also lovely countryside walks, and pretty market towns to visit.
