Conceived and crafted by Dita, a nomadic traveler from the Czech Republic, this retreat, known locally as "Casa Rosada' or the pink house, extends beyond the usual. Since 2004, Dita has passionately worked with Ecolibri, a non-profit organization supported by Anzan Atitlan, focusing on improving the local Guatemalan communities through sustainable education and nutrition programs. At Anzan Atitlán, nestled on the shores of Lake Atitlán, we live by the philosophy of less is more—prioritizing depth, quality, and intention in every detail. This is not a hotel, but a private house and retreat—a sanctuary shaped by a way of living. To support deeper rest and reconnection, Wi-Fi is turned off from 10 PM to 8 AM; however, if you need access for longer, we are always happy to accommodate. To maintain the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, food is not permitted in Rooms One and Two. Guests are welcome to use the shared communal kitchen by the beach to prepare and store food. The Loft includes its own private kitchen. The nearest village is approximately a 1,600-meter walk from the property. It is also easily accessible by public boat (lancha), which runs every 30 minutes until 5:30 PM, or a 20-minute walk. While Anzan offers a quiet, reflective environment without A/C, TVs, or social “happy hour” settings, the village provides dining and socializing options just a short distance away. Anzan is also a space for gathering—for intimate weddings, retreats, and meaningful events—where people come together not only to celebrate, but to feel, reflect, and reconnect. This lively locale offers many amenities and experiences, including coffee shops, a bakery, over 17 restaurants, a pharmacy, and vegetable markets. There's even an ice cream store for those with a sweet tooth. San Marcos is not just about practical amenities; it's a hub for wellness and cultural activities, boasting numerous yoga centers, retreats, and spaces for ceremonies and dancing. Whether you're looking for relaxation, exploration, or spiritual enrichment, this village has something to offer. The journey to San Marcos is as easy as it is enjoyable. It's just a 15-20-minute walk or a brief 7-minute public boat ride, with the boat conveniently stopping in front of our property.
