Escape to the tranquility and peace of County Mayo countryside at our serene getaway, Derryhick Escape. We have two comfortable cottages, freshly renovated in 2025, situated on 5 acres of private grounds on shores of Derryhick Lake. Your lakeside home from home in beautiful tranquil surroundings is only 15 minutes drive from Castlebar town. Stroll the grounds, enjoy your own private beach on Derryhick Lake, take our kayaks out for a paddle, go fishing for pike or say hello to our resident donkeys. The playground and fairy forest is sure to keep the little ones amused as well.

Derryhick Escape is located in the Crillaun townland and on the shores of the beautiful Derryhick Lake a mere 15 minutes drive to Castlebar. We are based in a rural location, down country lanes. We share our lanes with many friendly neighbours so you may be fortunate to have the occasional chat or indeed meet cows or sheep on your strolls. Nestled between Derryhick Lake and Lough Cullin is Cunnagher More Bog which is a protected landscape where you can see ponies, donkeys, foxes, otters, pheasants, hares amongst many other wildlife. You can enjoy strolls down the bog road adjacent to Derryhick Escape or pass by the ancient ring fort where locals still believe the Sí óg (fairys) live, hence why no one dares to cut a branch. As Derryhick Escape is the last property on the edge of the bog we are fortunate to have a fully dark sky and frequently enjoy Aurora Borealis in season. A short drive will bring you to the beautiful beaches of Lough Cullin, Drummin Wood 5km trail or for the adventurous hikers Farbreiga is a 395m hill looking down at Derryhick Escape.
