This property is remotely located in Thorsmork Nature Reserve, 20 mi from Seljalandsfoss waterfall. The Volcano Huts are ONLY accessible by hiking, special regional busses or 4x4 super jeep transport (modified vehicles), at an additional charge or by hiking. All cottages feature a kitchenette, a seating area and a private terrace. All accommodations options have shared toilets. The shared showers are in a service building next to the main house. Hiking to the property is also an option as Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls hiking trails lead here. On-site facilities include a sauna. Reykjavik is about 81 mi way. Lava Grill Restaurant & Bar serves up a menu of Icelandic cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tea/coffee and snacks are offered throughout the day. Staff are happy to help arrange jeep safaris and other activities.

Volcano Huts are located in Húsadalur Valley in the Þórsmörk Nature Reserve in Iceland, right next to the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano & Glacier. The unique nature of the Þórsmörk area make this an ideal place for any nature and hiking enthusiast. We offer accommodation, local food, tours and activities for groups and individuals. You can even host your event, meeting or conference here. You can stay in one of our private bedrooms, small cottages, mountain hut dormitories, glamping and camping grounds. As we are located in the highlands, we are only accessible via hiking, special highland busses or modified vehicles.

Þórsmörk Nature Reserve (pronounced Thorsmork in English) has one of Iceland’s most dynamic and beautiful landscapes, where active volcanoes and towering glaciers rise above the lush valleys below. The Þórsmörk area has endless hiking trails and is connected to the Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve via the Laugavegur hiking trail. Travelling to Þórsmörk is part of the adventure and to get here you will have to cross multiple rivers and drive past the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and glacier. As we are located in the highlands, we are only accessible via hiking, special highland busses or modified vehicles. We advise everyone to read information about how to get here when planning their trip.

The Volcano Huts Thorsmork is in a remote location, only accessible by hiking or special busses during 1 May to 30 September.

During winter from 1 October to 30 April, transportation by super jeep is required and guests can be picked up from Seljalandsfoss waterfall or Reykjavik. There is a car park at the Seljalandsfoss pick-up point.

Although all rates are quoted in EUR, please note that charges will be made in ISK according to the exchange rate on the day that the charge is made.
