Neither of us was born hotelier, it was all a big coincidence. When we took over the old "doctor’s house" we also took on an entirely new role, slowly developing a passion for this task. The Villa Messner is exactly what we wanted it to be a guesthouse built of memories... and we’re an integral part of this project, not just bystanders. They’re are both crafts people: Monika is a professional tailor and spent most of her life making her own traditional costumes or adapting old costumes for new customers. To this day she’s preserved a strong passion for beautiful fabrics and patterns, a staggering love for detail. Hansjörg, on the other hand, is a master painter, one that is able to provide a whole range of services for restorations and modern projects. In our opinion, people feel particularly comfortable in places that bear and tell exciting stories and allow for new relationships to bloom. We decided to become hoteliers because we wanted to give our guests a space where they could find themselves, a quiet environment, both acoustically and visually. And the natural landscape of the Val di Funes is a perfect setting for this.

Our house tells (almost) a hundred years of history discreetly and spontaneously. At the same time, it creates space for every moment of your holiday: for relaxation, happiness, breath-taking views and reflective breaks. n summer and autumn, enjoy the contrast of two seasons and explore the Puez-Odle Nature Park. Embark on an adventure in the wildlife reserve of the Zanser Alm, sign up for an herbal workshop with our landlady in her own garden, take a break on a lush Alpine pasture and go for an exciting Alpine hike or even an eBike tour. Step by step, get closer to nature and become one with the forest life. Discover nature, find yourself. In winter and spring, enjoy a thrilling toboggan run, take your family on a ski tour or snowshoe hike. Take part in one of the many wonderful ski excursions in the sunshine, there’s something for all levels… or simply walk through the winter forest and soak up the peace... All this until late spring. No doubt! The nature of the Val di Funes is lush and overwhelmingly beautiful… plain and simple! But sometimes you also want to widen your cultural horizons. And at the Villa Messner you can do this by visiting our small house-museum and historical herbarium. There are many exciting events and attractions all over the valley: churches in every village, many votive pillars, the Val di Funes Music Summer, the Mineralogy Museum in Tiso and many more.
