Podere San Selvatico is a newly renovated country house situated in the gorgeous hills of Valdichiana, Umbria, only a few kilometres from Tuscany. Only 10 minutes walk from the Medieval town of Città della Pieve, the villa enjoys a unique position, a magnificent overview of the valley and the silence of the surrounding nature. Although the house has been recently renovated to become a holiday destination for guests from all over the world, it has maintained many of the features of its original design, a country home of land workers built at the beginning of 1800. ‘Podere’ is the traditional Italian name for country houses, and we want to pay respect to the people who inhabited before us, who loved their land and have lived in harmony with nature. Each room has been designed to perfection, including the two private bathrooms with large showers. Giovanna (your host) is particularly proud of the many rustic details of the interiors that give a unique soul to Podere San Selvatico. The lounge is magnificent in its antique style, perfect for relaxing in the hottest hours of the day, studying or working. Booking your holiday at San Selvatico means you will have access to the entire home: it is suited for one or two couples, or a single nucleus family. Città della Pieve is located in the heart of Italian countryside, near Orvieto, Assisi, Arezzo, Pienza, and Cortona. The area is famous for the olive trees, the traditional cuisine, the Sagrantino red wine, and the artworks of Pietro Vannucci, “Il Perugino”, Italian Painter from the Reinassance, who was born right here, in Città della Pieve. Citta' della Pieve sits prettily on a hill where Umbria skirts the border of Tuscany. The walled amber-hued town is built entirely of brick, giving it a lovely uniformity. In fact, it was a centre for brick manufacturing in the middle ages, along with textiles. The warm colours and architectural harmony give it a welcoming feel. The town is nestled in its ancient protective walls, like a nested jewel. The overall atmosphere is charming and vibrant. The surrounding countryside is swathed in sunflowers and olive trees.
