Like most people, we have a "bucket list" of things we wanted to do before leaving this planet. Number one on our list was to find a unique property surrounded by nature that provided both stunning views of water and the mountains. We looked for 23 years during our working years in many countries around the world including Singapore-Thailand-France-Austria-Germany-Italy-Mexico-Caribberan and the Bahamas. Then we came by chance to visit Lago Maggiore and stumbled across Villa Paradiso. Although the building was in a state of disrepair, it had character, potential, charm and unbelievable views of the lake. It has taken us three long years to completely renovate the Villa, Serra, Garage and surrounding gardens. It was also bloody hard work to learn another language and communicate with all the different workers that contributed to the renovation efforts. We are very happy with the outcome and are proud to have completed the first item on our "bucket list". We think our guests will also enjoy Villa Paradiso while swimming in the pool or lounging in the garden. Welcome!

Villa Paradiso was built in 1890 by an Italian magnate who worked for "His Majesty's Voice" better known as Gramophone . Many people know Gramophone from the symbol of the dog listening to the old record player with the oval shaped speaker. The villa took over ten years to complete and was built on a steep incline above the fishing village of Cannero Riviera. The unique position of this historic villa provides unobstructed 180 degree views of Lago Maggiore from every room as well as every part of the 3.500 m2 colorful garden.

Our neighborhood is full of wonderful hiking trails full of flowers and tropical plants. Palm trees, lemon and grapefruit trees, apricot, kiwi, apple and pear trees are quite common in this neighbourhood. Grape vines are also quite common here and many of our neighbors still make grappa and wine the "old way" using antique copper vats and firewood. From our Villa, the old fishing village of Cannero is a 10 minute walk downhill. Viggione and Trarego and their restaurants are a 25 minute walk on well marked trails. In Premeno, one can fly like a bird using the newly built Zipline structure that provides an exhilarating experience not to be missed. Boating, canoeing and other water activities are available on the lake in Cannero (1km) and Cannobio (7km).
