This is a self contained studio-style unit with a soft queen-size bed and ensuite shower & toilet, and a small dining area and kitchen suitable for cooking simple meals. It has TV and free wi-fi. Linen and towels are provided. It is attached to a private residence but is completely separate and private with its own separate entrances and plenty of on-site car parking. It is located on St.Andrews Hill over-looking the nearby Avon River estuary only 15 minutes drive from city centre, with good bus services (stops at property) . It is also only 9 minutes drive from Sumner beach, and only 3 minutes drive or 5 minutes walk to the Ferrymead shopping precinct which has a large supermarket and several bars, cafes, restaurants, doctors, pharmacies, banks and many shops. There is a laundromat 5 minutes drive away at corner of Ferry Road and St.Johns Street. The property is 5 minutes drive from the Mount Cavendish Gondola which goes up to the mountain-top restaurant and viewing area with spectacular views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps, and Lyttelton Harbour. The Lyttelton Road Tunnel is also 5 minutes drive away and the Ferrymead Historic Park only 3 minutes

Steve and Denis are retired and live in the attached house which is separate. We enjoy having guests and will do all we can to ensure their stay is a pleasant one. For anybody interested in classic cars, Denis will be happy to show them his collection of 6 classic cars which are also on the property. We are always willing to assist with travel information and places to visit.

There are 50 cafes, restaurants and takeaway outlets nearby at Ferrymead (5 minute walk), Woolston (5 min drive), Sumner Beach (9 min drive), and Lyttelton (10 min drive). Ferrymead Historic Park is only 8 minutes walk from us. This has collections of steam trains fire engines motorcars and aircraft, and has an old fashioned Christchurch street with bakeries and other shops. Rides on a historic tram are also available there. The Port Hills Gondola is only 7 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk from us. It can take you to the top of the Port Hills with magnificent views of the City, the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps, and of Lyttelton Harbour. It has a museum and restaurant at the top. Sumner beach is only 9 minutes drive (or bus) from us. This Christchurch's best swimming and surfing beach, at which there are also shops, cafes and restaurants at Sumner Village. We are also very close to Lyttelton Harbour and the scenic Summit Road. Steve and Denis can take you touring in one of our lovely classic cars (1937 Rolls Royce, 1950s Jaguars, 1945 Citroen, 1948 Riley) or a modern vehicle. These tours can be local day tours, or longer tours around South Island (fee to be arranged)
