Come and enjoy Magical Mangawhai. Our beautiful new, contemporary 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom self contained accommodation. Set in a semi-rural location with plenty of parking for the boat or trailer. Only mins (drive) to the local village, MAZ skate park, Mangawhai Heads and estuary for all your shopping, restaurants, cafe's, fishing and swimming! Not forgetting bush walks and surf beach mins up the road! Te Arai Links Golf courses and Te Arai point for great surfing and pieceful beaches.

History Mangawhai is the traditional Māori name for the area, referring to the stingrays which live in the harbour.[6] In the early and mid 19th century, Mangawhai Harbour was one of the main access points for the Kaipara. Ngāti Whātua used to drag waka from Kaiwaka to Mangawhai.[7] A Ngā Puhi war party landed at Mangawhai in February 1825 and moved 12 km inland to confront the Ngāti Whātua at Te Ika-a-ranga-nui near Kaiwaka.[8][9] Later in the 19th century, settlers would travel by boat from Auckland to Mangawhai, walk to Kaiwaka, and then travel on the water again across the Kaipara Harbour. By the early 1860s, a dray road existed between Mangawhai and Kaiwaka.[10] In the latter 19th century, the kauri gum digging trade became an important industry in the area.
