Company info

We fell in love with this area fifteen years ago, so bought this block and started developing it. We built our cabin first and lived in it for a few years while we built our home. Nigel is a true West Coaster from New Zealand and Karen is originally from Perth in Western Australia. We say this property is a new beginning for us and we love to share it's beauty with our guests.

Property info

Our property is named 'Koru' which in the Maori language means 'new beginnings and harmony.' In order to ensure that we offer affordable rates, we only accept cash payments, to minimise fees paid. We are situated on one of the Top Ten drives in the World, as voted by Lonely Planet so we are surrounded by spectacular scenery. Our property has rainforest clad mountains on one side and looks straight out to the ocean on the other, so our accommodation offers great views of the magnificent scenery and wonderful sunsets. Free use of our outdoor hot tub (which overlooks our fresh water spring pond) is included in your stay. There is also a small gym to utilise and we offer free use of two mountain bikes for your enjoyment. We can arrange pick up and drop off to and from the Paparoa Bike Track for our guests (and other travellers) upon request at a competitive rate. Please contact us for details.

Neighborhood info

The Punakaiki area has a lot to offer visitors with it's Famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, amazing tramps and walks, kayaking and sightseeing. There are restaurants, cafes and a hotel to enjoy plus a new ISite which has local crafts and gifts for sale. We recommend, for a nice meal and drinks or coffee, take a trip noth to the Punakaiki Tavern. For the adventurous, this trail takes you across the mountain tops all the way to Blackball. Plus the famous Barrytown Knifemaking activity is located approximately 1 kilometer North of our property. Golden Sands horse and cart tours is also a highly recommended local attraction. The new Paparoa Great Hike is accessible from either Blackball or Punakaiki.
