Kotare Studio is set in 37 acres of native forest and pasture with plantings of olives and Italian cypresses. A world away from daily pressures yet only minutes away from Matakana Village, Omaha Beach and all the great attractions in the area are close by. Our studio is completely private with its own entrance, courtyard and patio. It’s secluded and peaceful, offering great views, abundant bird life and starry nights.

I am a retired communications consultant and my husband is a retired exploration geologist. We have travelled widely and enjoy experiencing other cultures. We love food, wine and music. I belong to a local Book Club and am presently trying to learn Bridge! In the summer, I love to swim everyday at one of the area’s many beaches.

We are very close to great restaurants and vineyards, as well as beaches, bush walks and cycling tracks. Matakana Farmer’s market, held every Saturday morning is a 5 minute drive away as is the village with shops and boutique cinemas. A little further afield is stunning Tawharanui Regional Park, Pakiri surf beach and Goat Island Marine Reserve for snorkelling, diving, kayaking and glass-bottom boat trips. Sheltered Matheson Bay, just ten minutes away, provide all tide swimming, and a 5 minute walk from here is the start of the Tamahunga bush trail.
