The property faces North East and has panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Bay of Plenty, East Cape headland and mountains in the distance. The sound of the ocean surf just 10 minutes walk away will send you off to sleep very quickly. The property is situated away from any traffic noise and so a good night's sleep is guaranteed.. The bird song can wake some as the sunrise in the East will make its way into the bedroom. There are only 3 houses within 100 metres of the property whose residents also crave the absolute quiet at all times. My wife Jacqui is a primary teacher now working at a local preschool. I was employed as a secondary teacher to teach senior students construction skills as I am also a qualified builder and also manage the avocado orchard in my spare time! Our lives are very busy with also looking after an extensive vegetable garden, running free range chickens and our dog Maggie. We eat healthy meals as Jacqui enjoys being in the kitchen and is always making her own bread for our guests who always comment on how tasty and welcome it is. We pride ourselves on what we grow such as our own avocados, peaches, apples, feijoas, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs etc etc. After a hot day in the garden, orchard we love to dive into the surf to cool down and take take Maggie for a walk along the beach. She is a 7 year old Border collie who has a lovely nature and has very good manners. Our life here is to us just perfect as we live in the Bay of Plenty which is very well named as that is just what it is. Opotiki township is just 11 minutes away by car where everything is available. Jacqui also teaches yoga.

Our neighbourhood is very quiet most times, houses are very well spaced apart with trees surrounding them all and so we can barely see any houses for our house. The beach and ocean provide us with fish, sailing (we have a small yacht) beach walks, swimming in the summer at the beach or in one of the local rivers. Trout are in the local river where there is also a lot of wild pigs, deer, etc waiting to hunted for a BBQ dinner with friends with a glass of wine or two. The area has its own micro climate and our house does not have any heating apart from a small heater we use for about 6 weeks in the middle of winter. We have a neighborhood get together every so often where ideas are exchanged, movies and shows are planned, meals are shared and it is always a great time had by all. We feel as we are both near retirement age that this property keeps us alive and vital as well as producing food for our table and also friends. We gather around 5 eggs a day from our chickens which we give our guests as part of their organic breakfast.
