A private, thoughtfully decorated 3-bedroom home on sleepy Driving Creek Rd, 25 minutes walk (or 4 minute drive) into Coromandel Town.
Newly renovated in 2022, this sunny home is a 5 minute drive from sandy Oamaru Bay, a safe & calm swimming beach. The famous Driving Creek Railway is just up the road, with its zip line, resident potters and train.
Perfect for couples, friends, or families wanting to spend the lazy hazy summer in a beautiful spot, swim and enjoy balmy evenings on the deck.
An airy, sunny, art-filled home with oak floors and windows that look out over a peaceful garden, and the Coromandel ranges beyond. The house is set back off the road, with ample parking and space for a boat. The garden is planted with natives and is very private, with no houses overlooking it. There is a gentle stream that runs along the boundary, a good spot to find quartz and cool off your feet.
With decks at the front and back of the property, there is always a sunny (or shaded) spot to enjoy a coffee in a locally hand thrown cup. The kitchen is well equipped, with a huge collection of cookbooks for dinner inspiration. Otherwise, pick a novel from the bookcase and retire to the hammock for the afternoon.
Please be aware that if you have children, there is a creek running through the bottom of the garden that is not fenced off.
Coromandel is an historic mining town in Northern Coromandel with an active local community, great fishing, and a long history of people seeking an alternative lifestyle. It’s a really beautiful spot with some world class beaches a short drive away. You could easily spend a week here exploring the many local walks, swimming spots and golden sand beaches that the area has to offer.
Driving Creek is traditionally the more bohemian end of town, and is home to lots of potters and artists. The famous Driving Creek Railway is located 5 minutes walk up the road from the property, and acts as hub for many local residents, as well as being a fantastic day out. There is a train, zip line and pottery classes here, as well as artists in residence who stay and put on special exhibitions throughout the year.
