We, Matthijs and Sylvia Heuvelman, have been living in the south of Portugal since the beginning of September 2007. After spending several holidays in this beautiful part of the country, we were so inspired that we wanted to work and live here permanently. As we have a joint passion for hospitality, the decision was easily made. Finding suitable accommodation was more difficult. Eventually we went for Casa Porta Azul in Boliqueime, Loulé. This old farmhouse is more than 100 years old and has been renovated a lot in the past century. Our latest renovations ensure that the former charm of the house is still reflected, yet with modern comfort. In the meantime, we have been enjoying life in Portugal with our daughters Sophie and Sara for many years now.

Authentic B&B with swimming pool in the Portuguese Algarve Casa Porta Azul is located in a rural area, just outside the village of Boliqueime, less than 20 minutes from the beach and the airport. A beautiful bed and breakfast in the south of Portugal where you can relax. Casa Porta Azul has seven rooms and three apartments. All rooms and apartments have a private outside door with a terrace. Furthermore, the (sub) tropical garden offers plenty of shaded spots with trees full of lemons, oranges, figs, almonds, olives and let’s not forget the enormous palm trees. You can always head to the pool bar for a refreshing drink. From our characteristic kitchen we serve a healthy lunch every day. If you want to cool down, just take a dip in our (heated) pool. You can also relax in our jacuzzi and enjoy the rural view from the B&B. There is also a play area and sandpit for the little ones.

Casa Porta Azul is situated in a prime location in the southernmost province of Portugal. This region is a very popular holiday destination. The Algarve owes this to its beautiful beaches, impressive cliffs, nature reserves, lovely villages, and much more. We’d like to tell you a bit more about the area. You will find authentic Portuguese landscape all around the property. From our Casa you can walk straight into nature. The centre of Boliqueime is a 5-minute drive away from our Casa. Boliqueime, not yet discovered by mass tourism, is a small village built around the church. Every day you can see old men enjoying the fresh air together in the narrow streets. Boliqueime has several restaurants, ranging from very simple and tasty, to classy and refined. You can see the coastline from the first floor of Casa Porta Azul. The beaches, with countless bays, are really unique here. Within a 15-minute drive you will arrive at one of our favourite beaches: Praia do Barranco das Belharucas. This beach is interspersed with interesting rock formations that are located both on the beach and in the water.
