If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, in contact with nature and excellent places to swim in the sea and taste excellent food and wines, then Caloura is the ideal place for you. Our accommodation it´s a family holiday house that was built over 30 years ago from a small stone house. It is located on a big plot of land that goes up to a cliff next to the sea and contains the ruins of the Forte da Canada do Castelo (Castle cul-de-sac Fortification). Unfortunately, over time the ruins are disappearing due to the cliff`s erosion. For this same reason this area is closed and prohibited to the public. Despite being a rustic house, it was remodeled and equipped in a modern way with everything you need, while preserving its rustic structural characteristics, its original brick floor tiles and typical Portuguese tiles (which are no longer manufactured) and many other antiques and relics characteristic of the Azores. In addition to the house, you can enjoy an outdoo/garden area (with complete privacy), consisting of distinct leisure areas and a barbecue wood or coal grill.

Caloura is situated in the parish of Água de Pau and is known for its paradisiacal sea shore, for its great natural beauty, free from pollution, with its own microclimate that is much sunnier and less humid than the rest of the island, thus making it an excellent bathing area. Caloura has many activities and experiences of historical, cultural and leisure interest at your disposal. So, take the opportunity to get in touch with nature, enjoy unique moments and get to know this beautiful region. Here are some suggestions: Visit the Caloura Cultural Center, the Caloura Convent and the Battery of Nossa Senhora da Conceição; bathe in the clear waters of Porto da Caloura, in the natural pools of Cerco and on Baixa d´Areia beach; dive in the underwater caves called Arcos da Caloura; do some kayaking, stand-up rowing, snorkelling, fishing, among others. In the parish of Água de Pau you can find minimarkets where you can do your shopping, a gas station with an ATM, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy, among others.
