Company info

We have three generations of innkeepers in our family, and have lived in Kona and hosted guests for almost 40 years. We have explored the Big Island extensively, and are always happy to help guests plan their daily adventures. We especially enjoy our European visitors, as we speak German.

Property info

Our guest house is surrounded by nature. The beautiful garden is filled with flowering hibiscus, heliconia, plumeria, palms, papayas and bananas. Wake up in the morning to the sound of birds singing after a great rest in a comfortable bed and breakfast at your leisure. After a day of fun, relax on our expansive lanais and enjoy sunset views of the coastline. ​We offer several beautiful vacation studios with ocean or garden views. Most have kitchenettes or a full kitchen, spacious covered lanai, private bath, LCD cable TV and free WiFi, onsite parking, beach towels and chairs, coolers and boogie boards. Laundry facilities are available.

Neighborhood info

Bears' Place Guest House is a great home-base for exploring the Big Island of Hawaii. We are centrally located on the hillside 7 miles north of downtown Kailua Kona, at a comfortable elevation. Our quiet neighborhood is only a ten minute drive from Kailua Town, the beautiful beaches along the Kona-Kohala Coast and the airport (no noise). We are half a mile away from the picturesque Makalei Hawaii Golf Course. Hilo, on the other side of the island, is only an hour and twenty minute drive and Volcanoes National Park is a great day trip.
