Love how it was decorated and how close it was to downtown Fredericksburg. And it was an added bonus with the bourbon being part of the facility.

Company info

At Ironclad Distillery Co., we make authentic bourbon whiskey. That’s it. Nothing else. It’s our Ironclad rule. It all began in 2014, when founders Stephen, Kara and Owen King opened the distillery in an historic warehouse in the Port of Newport News, Virginia. Ironclad was so named because it was situated within view of the most famous Civil War naval battle between the first Ironclad ships. That unique location is what inspired us to create a distillery with a single aim: To make the best small bourbon whiskey available. Each batch of bourbon we make is fermented, distilled and bottled, all under one roof, using the best Virginia corn, wheat, rye and our proprietary blend of malted grains. Today, we have two Tasting Rooms and a new B&B – Ironclad Inn. Each space is designed to be comfortable and characterful, offering bourbon enthusiasts a unique yet familiar experience every time they visit – a warm and welcoming home away from home where lively stories can be swapped over a tipple or two.

Property info

Ironclad Inn is the first B & B & B – Bed & Breakfast & Bourbon Set within an 1823 Colonial brick former private residence, the Inn is where America’s story began. Right in the center of Fredericksburg’s historic downtown, the house remains a comfortable home away from home. Spread over three storeys, the building retains many of its original features and includes a Bourbon & Bar Room, available to Inn guests and the public, for food by our in-House Chef and crafted drinks. There is also a walled garden patio and special event spaces on the first and second floors.

Neighborhood info

Ironclad Inn is located among historic residential homes just one block away from Fredericksburg’s bustling downtown. The area has long been a fixture in America's story, with everything from Civil War-era battlefields to George Washington's boyhood home, boutique shops, art galleries, and the best bars and restaurants. In fact, Ironclad Inn emerged from this vibrant atmosphere: the House first became a tavern in 1932 and immediately became a much-loved hub for community gatherings and celebrations.
