Bloukrans Cabin on the family-owned Ouberg Private Nature Reserve is a mountain escape, only a 3-hour drive from Cape Town. Get ready to experience the breathtaking beauty, the carpet of stars of the Milky Way, and the loud silence of the Klein Karoo! Our location off the Ouberg Pass, just 20 km from the charming village of Montagu, is the perfect spot for your next escape. We offer a self-catering, rustic, completely off-grid experience for solo travellers, couples or families in Bloukrans Cabin, nestled at the bottom of the Bloukrans Mountain amphitheatre. Bloukrans Cabin accommodates a maximum of 4 people with 2 twin single beds in the bedroom, and a single bed and a day bed in the lounge for two more guests. The bathroom has a hot water shower, a flush toilet (septic tank) and a hand basin. The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area have sweeping views over the valley and mountains. The dining table seats 4 people, and the kitchenette is well-equipped with all you need to whip up a meal. A two-plate gas cooker, kitchen utensils, crockery & cutlery are provided. A fridge/freezer is powered by the sun. Hot water in the kitchen and bathroom is from a gas geyser. Water is from a borehole at the swimming dam. The cabin is on stilts and has a large deck to enjoy the views. Outdoor seating is provided, or relax in the 2-man hammock. A barrel-type braai and a kettle-type barbecue serve as your outdoor kitchen on the deck. In addition, there is a hot-water outdoor shower with views up the mountain for those wishing to make the most of the outdoor experience. Please note that there is NO cell reception nor WiFi at the cabin and on most of the property.

Bloukrans Mountain will welcome you to the cabin, as the cabin is remote. Dan Carstens, our Guest and Farm Manager is the on-property host, who guests will communicate with before their arrival. Part of the adventure is getting there. Cabin guests are welcome to make use of the few existing farm roads to explore the farm on foot. For those happy to use existing game trails and walk through the veld. Cyclists are also welcome to use the existing farm roads.
