Barnacle Tree is a self-catering cottage on a private residential property. It has a separate entrance, private and enclosed garden and secure off street parking for one vehicle. This cosy 33m2 home is fully equipped, consisting of an open plan lounge, kitchen with filter coffee machine, fridge, gas hob, Whirlpool combination oven, plus crockery and cutlery. The separate bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower and washing machine. All linen, towels and toiletries are provided. The cottage is perfect for 2 adults or for visitors needing longer stays. It was designed with the aim of providing affordable, organised and equipped accommodation for guests. Unfortunately no pets are allowed as there are friendly dogs on the property and we do hope our guests are comfortable with our furry friends. While the cottage is intended for 2, there is the sleeper couch in the lounge, and while space is limited, we’ll do our best to accommodate a child or baby at no extra cost. As the cottage is all on one level, it’s suitable for all ages. All you need to do is bring yourselves. Smokers are welcome to smoke in the garden. The location is extremely central.

Having been in the hospitality, real estate industry and overseas for many years, I'm extremely comfortable with all nationalities and when I started the project Barnacle Tree, I designed it to meet the needs of guests who want comfortable, affordable and hassle-free accommodation. I chose the name Barnacle Tree, a mythical tree, because it's quirky, quite fun and just a bit different.

Somerset West is a place of natural beauty and a popular choice for visitors. Set against a backdrop of the Helderberg mountain, the town is home to many wine estates including Vergelegen, Morgenster, Lourensford, and the Idiom Wine Da Capo wine estate. Sport and outdoors enthusiasts can choose between walks at Radloff Park alongside the Lourens River, the Helderberg Nature Reserve, or the many venues offering cricket, baseball, hockey or squash. There are 2 bowling clubs and a croquet lawn locally. Golfers can visit Erinvale Golf Course, Somerset West Country Club, Strand and Greenways Golf course. When eating out, there is a large variety of cafes and restaurants offering Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, French, Greek and of course, South African fare. Shoppers have the options of the shops of Somerset West, Somerset Mall or Waterstone Village Centre. For those seeking culture and the arts, Stellenbosch is a short 20 min drive away Somerset West is central to scenic routes alongside Clarence Drive, or for day trips to the Winelands, Cape Point, and Overberg region. Somerset West still prides itself in being apart from the hustle and bustle of larger cities.
