The cottage is upmarket, neat and very well equipped An interior perfectly in keeping with its location: strung-together shells from curtain rails, sun-kissed kitchen table and intriguing wicker aviary. Sea-worn oar balustrade leading to the upstairs bedroom, where soft yellow create stone walls and inviting linens continue the ocean feel. French doors opening onto a balcony with views. Hocus Pocus is a simple but functional architectural style house based on the historical West Coast Fisherman's cottages as seen all around Paternoster. Similar to a magical Greece's old-world charm, with rustic furniture typical of a fisherman's village with that faint perfume of the past that one only seems to find in houses that are very much out of the ordinary. Country chairs, robust sofas, antiques, pure white bedrooms - all things perfectly modulated. Hocus Pocus is just the place for reading, snoozing or doing strictly nothing at all. TO BRING ALONG As a self catering establishment, guests should bring all their own: Food, salt, pepper, oil, beverages and drinks All your own toiletries Guest should bring own beach towels, as linen is strictly for house use only Extra toilet paper Extra black garbage bags Extra dishwashing liquid CLEANING As a self-catering establishment, guests are responsible for keeping their own apartment clean – no cleaning services available. Bedding, towels, and dishcloths will be changed every 5th day. Despite not having a nest-egg to break in Paternoster for a new chapter in my life, the space in which I found myself, clinched the deal for me. Paternoster had the exact ambiance I was looking for to spend the rest of my days…beauty, harmony and some unexpected exitement! And thus, in 2002, Paternoster Villas Accommodation was born, hosting families, friends, pets and honeymooners to my authentic establishments, witnessing many engagements, weddings, babies and reunions. Over the years I had very interesting guests. Athol Fugard often came to write, staying in Hocus Pocus Cottage and Die Opstal. Hocus Pocus Cottage has a precious Jet master which was donated to me after it warmed the legs of Nelson Mandela while he visited Paternoster. Unique guests from all over the world included two Frenchmen who, after walking down the East coast of Africa for two years, rested in Die Opstal for 3 months, before walking all the way back up the West Coast of Africa. My pet guests have included 3 Great Danes, 5 miniature Yorkies, 6 cats enjoying beach walks on leashes, and an array of birds. So come and experience the magic of Paternoster!
