Friendly host. Funky type of artist share house, rooms pretty large. Older style property, but nicely furnished and feels good. Beds comfy but a bit noisy (wood squeak). No real noise insulation, so you can hear other guests (not loud, but you can...

Company info

John Bauer is a well-known ceramic and porcelain artist based in Cape Town. His work has been exhibited globally in galleries and museums. He's most known for his innovative and technologically ground-breaking porcelain. As an artist, John greatly enjoys sharing life and stories with guests. He'll happily spend time showing his own studio and the studios of other Cape Town artists. He has lived in the area for most of his life and so is fountain of knowledge of interesting things to do and unusual local information.

Neighborhood info

Harfield Village is a popular and well-known community in Claremont. It's close enough to the larger business in Claremont for convenience, but offers a smaller community with a main road lined with excellent restaurants and shops. Once a year, the main road of Harfield Village, is filled with art and street food with it's annual festival. The micro-brewery scene is well-represented... and a Harfield beer tastes better when in Harfield. The train station is a 8-10 minute walk away and links guest to Cape Town central (a few stops away). The opposite direction, the train takes you to seaside exploration, with surfing in Muizenburg, the bohemian life in Kalk Bay and penguins in Simon's Town. We are a 5 minutes from the hub of Harfield Village with it's coffee shops, bistros and other interesting shops and restaurants. We're a 15 minute walk from the well-known Cavendish shopping area with a range of high-end shops. We're a 15 minute drive from the center of Cape Town. We recommend Uber Taxi as a reliable and cost-effective way for getting around.
