For most visitors the coastline of False Bay is love at first sight, but even at a second glance there is much to discover. Perched between the ocean and pristine mountains lie some of the Cape’s oldest settlements. Hidden in cobblestone alleys or tucked into colonial buildings cafés, quaint restaurants, antique shops and art galleries invite you to mellow down and indulge. On the other hand the vibrant marine life, friendly beaches and rugged mountains provide more than enough entertainment are some of the best Simon’s Town attractions for active travellers and nature lovers. A firm favourite is the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The comical flightless birds are a bit clumsy on land, but turn into black darts as soon as they break the water surface. Stroll along the wooden walk ways to see the African penguins breeding and feeding or walk down to pristine Boulders Beach, where you can swim with the penguins.
