5 April 2026 - Important Notice - Knysna is surviving a local water crisis. - Dear Valued Guests and Visitors A very warm welcome to Tonquani. We are delighted to have you stay with us. Knysna recently experienced severe drought conditions and a period of low rainfall, which has put significant pressure on our local water resources - The municipality has implemented strict water restrictions until July 2026 In order to improve our sustainability we have low-flow shower heads and taps and dual-flush toilets; we have water-wise landscaping using indigenous plants and rainwater harvesting for our gardens and swimming pool.. and we address any leaks or pipe bursts to prevent extra ordinary water loss. - You can help us conserve water: - Take shorter showers: Aim for a shower of five minutes or less. Every minute saved makes a difference. - Turn off taps: Please turn off the tap while soaping your hands, shaving, or brushing your teeth. - Participate in our reuse program: If you wish to reuse your towels, please hang them up. Towels left on the shower floor will be replaced. - Bed linen will be changed every third day unless you request otherwise. - Avoid unnecessary flushing: Dispose of tissues and other small waste in the bin rather than flushing the toilet unnecessarily. - If you notice any dripping taps, running toilets, or other leaks, please report them to us immediately. The situation requires that every one of us acts responsibly. In case of water-shedding, we have added a 10,000L emergency tank to cover days when the municipality declares no water.
