I loved the service that was provided here! The staff was very accommodating, the food was delicious, and the room was perfect. I have a gluten allergy that most places don’t accommodate for but they went above and beyond to help me with my allergy.

Staying at UTAHI, a 100-year-old Kyoto machiya, was one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip to Japan. From the moment we arrived, Shewko-san, the owner from Sione Ceramic Shop, welcomed us not as guests, but almost like family. There was something deeply special and peaceful about this place — a true connection between people, tradition, art, and soul. Every morning felt like meditation. The quiet atmosphere, the beauty of the old wooden machiya, the soft light, the details of handmade ceramics, and the incredible breakfast created a sense of calm and harmony that is hard to describe. This was not simply accommodation — it was an experience of authentic Kyoto living. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful: beautifully prepared, thoughtful, healthy, and filled with care. You could feel love and intention in every detail. Conversations with Shewko-san and the warm human connection we shared became one of the most meaningful parts of our journey. UTAHI is not just a place to sleep — it is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself. We felt very spoilt living in this house. It was clean, had great amenities and was well located. We especially love the heated floors and the bidets. The beds were comfortable and the WiFi was fast and reliable.

The location was good as it was far enough from the crowds but close enough to anything you want to see or eat. The room itself was very comfortable. The bed was firm and comfortable, with 2 types of firm or soft pillows. The bathroom was very big and modern. I took advantage of the free bar in the lobby which had many Japanese whiskey and sakes.

Everything! The best authentic Kyoto experience you could imagine. The rooms are impeccable clean, the most high end amenities, the shower and bathtub is luxurious, the breakfast is fantastic, and the staff, Shin especially, is absolutely amazing, they would do everything to make you feel at home, give you the best recommendations, and go above and beyond if you need anything.

It’s our fifth visit to Kyoto, and this house managed by the landlord gave us a very unique experience and the stay itself definitely a highlight of our trip compared to hotel stays. Location is unbeatable with closeness to major supermarkets and bus stations.

Host is very nice and helpful. The property is new, beautiful and well equipped and in excellent conditions. All amenities are very luxury and high grade. Location is superb. It’s very close to yasaka pagoda. Bathtub and footbath are very relaxing. Free parking is the plus. Our family has a pleasant staying at Yasakahan.

Excellent experience staying at the authentic machiya house. Charming backyard garden. Comfortable bathtub. Easy access to subway station and convenience stores nearby. Cozy coffee shops and local bars nearby.

The property itself is very cozy and beautiful. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese design. It’s very close to a lot of tourists spots in Kyoto, walking distance to some Shrines and temples. Ninenzaka is just a 10min walk. Close to a bus stop. A 24hr supermarket is just 3-4min walk.

The location is Gion and it's conveient. The hotel has onsen and it's really good to soak in Onsen at the end of the day for the relaxation. Room is huge and it's traditional style.

The hotel’s interior was stunning, complemented by a beautiful garden setting. The service level was exceptional, and the staff were highly professional, assisting with packing my bags and even handling shipment arrangements. The reception staff were also very friendly, making my stay even more enjoyable.

Great little boutique hotel in the heart of Gion. Rooms are comfy with lots of complimentary extras available in the lobby. Staff were super friendly & very helpful. Walking distance to shops, transport & loads of attractions. Highly recommend.
