Places to Stay in Iiyama

Proximity to ski fields, wonderful host, beautifully appointed home. The owner, Naoko, was exceptional. Advised us thoroughly on how to get to Madarao on train and bus, picked us up from the bus and dropped us at ski rental place. She went WAY above what is to be expected. The breakfast is extremely filling consisting of a cooked meal (normally eggs and some type of meat.. bacon, ham etc) hot soup, yogart, cereal, juice, toast, coffee/tea, and fruit. The common area is very inviting and so close to the ski fields. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in that area!!

The inn keeper was amazingly attentive. He seemed to clean the bathrooms 20 times per day. The cleanliness of the inn was great. He provided good advice and Information regarding town. His service was impeccable. The inn was across the street from one of the lifts although notably it is one of the minor lifts. Espresso available in the morning with breakfast Parking available a few steps away

Cozy and spacious at the same time while conveniently located very near onsen. Easy walk to restaurants with food options. Also stocked well enough to be able to cook at home. Summer visit was fantastic!

Great location, great restaurant downstairs. Laundry is free which is nice.

Although, the room’s private onsen can only accommodate one person, it was incredible to have that to yourself after a long day on the slopes. The hotel design has a nostalgic 80s feel to it.

The location, staff, food and in-room onsen were highlights for this ryokan!

Great location to Main Street and ski center. Right across the street from an Onsen. Staff was extremely attentive, caring and very helpful with recommendations.

Great location for the ski hill and nice hotel. The bar offered a lively social area and they onsen was fantastic. The breakfast had a great selection. Parking was on site.

OMG - the size of this home is huge 5 bedrooms with lots of pillows, beds are new and we have a comfortable sleep, its very quiet, which was nice, 2 toilets 2 bathrooms, huge lounge room, dining and kitchen, Netflix sign in, with heating in every room plus a BBQ, we would 100% stay here again, we decided to stay off the mountain ( snowboarding ) to save cost as there was 9 of us - 2 families, it was a 10min walk to the train station and the bus station to head up the ski felids it was a 25min bus ride to the base then a 10min shuttle bus to the snow flied, we did catch a taxi one day and it was $50.00 all the way to the top for 4 of us. There is a large supermarket next door to the train station, taxi to the accommodation was only $10.00. This home is in the suburbs, we didn't eat out, not sure if there are many places to eat around, but the supermarket was large and filled with yummy food. I would love to go back and spend a week there, the house left warm and welcoming just want you need after you have been on the snow all day.

Great location to explore surrounding areas. 15 minute walk from iiyama station. The host was kind and accommodating. I had difficulty returning from nozawa onsen during the dosojin festival. He graciously offered and provided transport back to myself and 3 other guests. The space is simple but very comfortable.

Cozy, cabin vibes, enough room for 6 adults, proximity to ski hill. Staff such as Bruno, Satomi-san, Saya are amazing and so helpful.

Extremely helpful staff. Offered multiple car rides to and from the train station, bus stop, grocery store. Gave a personal tour of all the amenities. Had breakfast waiting each morning. I only spoke English and he only spoke Japanese but we were able to google translate everything. 10/10 recommend.

The place was clean and a really comfortable and homey vibe. The host Hiroshi was amazing, he really took care of us. Our favorite moments were sitting in the common area with the fireplace going, sharing a nice drink. That’s what you’re in for, a place that is relaxed and chill.

Incredible cold plunge and sauna, rooms are really modern and comfortable

I felt so cozy and at home here! It was close enough to nozawaonen for me, just a 10 minue drive. I wanted to stay somewhere peaceful away from the main area, but still close to the slopes, so this was perfect! The sauna was amazing after a day of riding. The bed was super comfy, the home was very clean. The host, Mitch, was incredibly responsive and also offered a lot of local recommendations.
