"Capileira is a gem! It is so peaceful and is in such a beautiful setting. We visited in the winter and the hiking was lovely, even with a storm that dropped some rain on us and snow on the peaks above. It made for beautiful views!"

The whole village is made for the visitors to enjoy their stay, you have options for all kind of experiences, either you are there with your family, with kids, a group of friends or on your own. Highlight that the locals and all the people that works there are really friendly and helpful. Can not recommend it enough."

One of 329 reviews:
"Bubion is the most authentic of the four towns we visited (Pampaneira, Capileira, and Trevelez were the other ones). It tries to retain the feeling of the town it was originally, with the residents still tending their gardens and their livestock. It is not invaded by tourists in the same way Pampaneira and Capileira are--no tourist buses stop there. Yes, there is less to do, but more peace and quiet, for sure. I appreciate the fact that this town still has lots of locals who clearly care for it and have been there a long time. If you want lots of shopping, restaurants, bars, and entertainment, Bubion is NOT your town. If, on the other hand, you want peace, quiet, and the sense that you are in a real town with lots of history, you will love it."

My stay at Casa Rural Fuente la Teja was absolutely wonderful — so relaxing and calming, surrounded by nature and just steps away from an observation deck with the most breathtaking sunset views! Mieke and Mark are truly exceptional hosts. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, accommodating every need, cooking delicious meals, and sharing great recommendations for hikes, sightseeing, and activities. They even helped me with a car issue — something I’ll always be grateful for! My room was cozy and inviting, with a balcony overlooking stunning views where I loved reading my book. I slept like a baby. The Casa is also very dog-friendly, which was such a joy. My dog was treated like a guest himself, free to explore and even spoiled with treats — he loved it as much as I did! The saltwater pool, with its panoramic mountain views, was another highlight. Spotlessly clean, with a shower, plenty of loungers, and umbrellas, it was the perfect place to unwind. I also noticed they provide games and toys for children and adults alike. Next time, I’m hoping to return with my kids to share this hidden gem with them. Highly recommended!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at La Almunia del Valle! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. They remembered our names, checked in on our plans each day, and went above and beyond to help us organize hikes, activities, and dinner plans. Their warmth and attention to detail genuinely set this place apart! The food was incredible! Fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully prepared. Breakfast and dinner overlooking the mountains was a highlight! And the views… absolutely breathtaking! The hotel sits quietly in the hills near Monachil (a quaint town with some great local spots for tapas!), close to some fantastic hikes and just far enough from Granada to feel peaceful without being inconvenient. We loved our stay so much that we actually extended it — and would have stayed longer if we could! This is one of those rare places where you instantly feel both cared for and completely relaxed. Highly, highly recommend. We can’t wait to come back!

We liked everything about this place including that they have parking but we didn't need it because there was parking right in front of the hotel! The breakfast was good and they maker their own churros batter on site! The hotel lobby was decorated for Halloween which we all found fabulous! The gardens were lovely and the hotel is fabulously situated in the middle of the town. Everything was walkable. I would love to go back in the summer to use their fabulous pool overlooking the mountains!

Our 6-day trip to Capileira was good.

Our 6-day trip to Capileira was good. The village has several very charming squares where it is pleasant and romantic to spend time, especially in the evening by candlelight under the illuminated trees. There is also a very good steak restaurant and a few shops selling artisanal regional products. 4 km further is a very charming village, PAMPANEIRA, with nice narrow streets, shops, and a few good restaurants. PORTUGOS, with the Fuente Agria and the Chorreron waterfall, is certainly worth a visit, as is SOPORTUJAR, the witches' village. All are very close by and more than worth a visit.

The most perfect place I have ever stayed!!

The most perfect place I have ever stayed!! I almost don't want to write a review because everyone will want to go! :) This was my second time here, and it has become my sanctuary and my happy place, I plan to return every year if possible. The gourmet breakfast is delicious, with different options available every morning, fresh juices, fresh fruit, and excellent coffee! Dinner is fabulous with excellent service, tasty Michelin level food, beyond expectation! The place itself is perched up on top of the hill very close to a beautiful hiking trail called 'Monachil Los Cahorros' - (anyone can do this trail whether you want to do a shorter or longer route). The hike has hanging bridges, caves, streams, uphill and downhill routes! The most tranquil and beautiful spot you will ever visit, whether its a solo trip like me or with family, friends or a loved one! The most amazing views from the hotel (which is a boutique sustainable hotel) - The bed was an absolute dream, and all the rooms are perfect, with beautiful detail!

Perfect if you don’t have to travel far.

Perfect if you don’t have to travel far. The snow was fantastic but the skiing can be unreliable. Wind often shuts the lifts; fog and cloud is a big factor that can spoil your skiing. Great resort with decent runs and a nice village with plenty of options for eating, drinking etc., loads of good ski hire shops. But check the forecast before you go.

First of all, I want to point out that it is easy to get to from Granada. We left from the Alhambra parking lot on a 40-minute route to our destination, which does not pose any problems. A picturesque town. Every street has its own charm and it is a real joy to walk around day or night and discover the people and the places. Everyone greets everyone whether they know you or not. The town is at the foot of the mountain. From there, for enthusiasts, tourist trails begin. You can go hiking or cycling. There is a beautiful reservoir nearby with a sensational color. We had a very good meal at the restaurant that had a terrace right above the free public parking lot at reasonable prices. We definitely want to come back.

Durcal is a very quaint, traditional Spanish town.

Durcal is a very quaint, traditional Spanish town. There are many restaurants and bars and a few shops and a couple of supermarkets and pharmacies. There is also a church in the square. There are almost no vegetarian options except pizza and veggie burgers occasionally available in the area. Also of note is that there is very little English spoken here. Durcal is a very friendly place and a short drive to the mountain range and the town of Granada.
