"A lovely city, especially if you like medieval (Romanesque) architecture. Notre Dame la Grande was closed for repairs unfortunately. The Church of Sainte-Radegonde is a real gem. Everything is closed on Sunday, even more than other French citiies. Even the tourist information office was closed, which I think is inexcusable."

"Lots to see and do. For people like me who don't speak French, I strongly discourage the 19.50 Euro river cruise, which only went up and back along the river, nonstop, with very little of note to see. The guide spoke endlessly in French for the full 2-1/2 hours, which was excruciatingly boring and un-nerving to me. The promise of English language was fulfilled only by a booklet, which was largely useless. I happily recommend that you stay on the ground and follow the green line to all the great sites."

"Ideal, central positioned for excursions to La Rochelle, Ile de Ré,... Comfortable room+parking space. Unfortunately a bit disappointed about WIFI during part of our stay. Visited La Flotte and Phare des Baleines on Ile de Ré, the Aquarium & "Le Bunker" in La Rochelle. The Central station is beautiful. A view from the ferris wheel is breathtaking. Parking Le Vieux Port Sud-Espace Encan Aquarium is very centrally positioned near all main city viewpoints as well as The Aquarium, port, station,...AND not too expensive!!"

"Angouleme is a fascinating city with so much history to explore. Top sites include the ramparts, cathedral and museum. Its modern day claim to fame is as the birth place of Herge, the famous creator of Tintin. A visit to the museum of Dessin Anime (comic strip art) is definitely worth while. An annual festival dedicated to this art form is a good date for your diary. As a fortified city it is quite hilly in places, something to take into consideration re mobility. If visiting in high seasonal temperatures (can reach top 30's) Would recommend hats and frequent bar/cafe stops!"

The location is picture perfect, literally. It is on the western coast of the island, so if there is a sunset, you would see it. On our days, it was rainy, but that simply brought a different kind of beauty. The beaches were mostly empty - we had them to ourselves. There are several ways to get to the beach below, and all are an easy, short walk. Yet, the hotel is elevated, so you have a lovely view of the coastline. The room was light and airy, and very clean. There is plenty of storage space, and a nice shower with plenty of pressure. The bed was very comfortable, and there were room darkening curtains. The hotel was full when we were there, but it was still quiet. Breakfast is not included, but we found it to be worth the price. There was a lot of variety in the pastries offered, along with cheese, meat, boiled eggs, cereal, and fruit. We would recommend this place, and would stay again.

Friendly, thoughtful staff. Very central for the Marina and all attractions. We have been here 3 times and each time the hotel staff have exceed our expectations, which is why we return. Huge thanks to reception staff in particular this time. We were greeted on arrival by a really friendly receptionist/manager who helped us to park our motorcycles and take our luggage to our rooms. It was our wedding anniversary and we were touched to be given cocktail vouchers to mark the occasion. We highly recommend this place. Great, well proportioned, immaculately clean and quiet rooms and a warm welcome. Perfect!

The Family Golf Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel is so well situated and has a lovely patio view. A beautiful historic building next to a beautiful church , with private secure parking . Perfect welcome from the staff , nothing was too much trouble , maps, directions and Restuarant recommendations. We were upgraded to a “ deluxe” room. It was absolutely beautiful. We didn’t take breakfast as we wanted to stroll through the town to find a local cafe before our onward journey , however, it did look a lovely setting/ seating area and I am sure it would have been amazing, like everything at this hotel.

Whilst being off the beaten track it is anything but difficult to reach. It is perfectly quiet, perfectly safe. Wonderful night sky as no light pollution. We could- in keeping with late summer- have breakfast ( and a late night snack + wine) outside. The staff/ owners we encountered were lovely.

This is true 5 star hotel, the design of the place is unique. Attention to children is kind. They had small bath robes, slippers and color pencils ready for my children when we arrived. Every evening they make up your bedroom ready for the night rest. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of options.
