"We have visited Laragh on three different trips to Ireland, and we are always eager to return. It is a scenically beautiful area. We love walking the trails at Glendalough amid the ancient monastic ruins, and the drive through the Wicklow Mountains is stunning. Over the years, we also have enjoyed several day trips to nearby Russborough House with its art, gardens, interesting history, and excellent restaurant. The Wicklow Heather restaurant is world class, and the cafe in the center of Laragh has excellent homemade soups and food. Laragh is a great part of any trip to Ireland."

Firefly was an excellent hotel right on main street, with the most comfortable beds of our entire 4 week trip through Europe! The rooms had all the comforts you needed, they were quiet, and the check in process was a breeze. We have already recommended this to other friends and family in Ireland if they want a weekend away in Bray.

Hard to single out a particular thing as our two day stay was thoroughly enjoyable. All the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The smell of burning wood from the open fire in the reception lounge. The outdoors hot tub is so enjoyable. Everything in the spa is spotless and very well maintained (swimming pools, sauna, steam room) and comfortable. We did not opt for the fine dining restaurant but enjoyed tasty light food in the confortable bar-lounge.

Our main reason for visiting Bray was to get the oldest Geocache in Europe [GC43] on Bray Head. We arrived by train from Connelly station in Dublin and walked to our hotel [The Strand]. After checkin and Geocache obtained we ended up eating dinner at Butler & Barry which had really good fish and chips. While we were eating we saw several different men enter the sea for a swim.

This area won’t be right for everyone.

This area won’t be right for everyone. My husband and I arrived after an extended trip to England and the Isle of Man. We were not in the mood for busy tourist areas. The Town of Aughrim is so sweet, and really gives you an idea of rural Irish life. There were enough things to see in the area for us, such as Avoca Woolen mills, Glendalagh Monestery, Russborough house, and Wicklow Town.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. The staff are exceptional, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, the food was amazing and the rooms are cosy and spacious. Unfortunately, there were some fire doors outside our room and they were really loud when they banged shut and kept us awake but except from that we had a great stay and were treated to complimentary treats upon arrival and champagne with our meal for our anniversary.
