an excellent location — very close to Florence yet surrounded by the peaceful beauty of Tuscany. The views during breakfast and meals are absolutely stunning. Our room was beautiful, tidy, and equipped with all the main essentials. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Diletta at the restaurant reception, who was exceptionally kind and professional. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every moment. The food was good, the spa and facilities were excellent, and parking was easy with valet service available. This is the perfect place for anyone who wants to enjoy the Tuscan countryside without long drives from Florence. The whole experience was smooth, relaxing, and truly memorable. I would definitely stay here again with full confidence.

I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count. This is my first time stopping in and staying in Colle di Val d'Elsa. The location is very close to all the major sites in Tuscany. Volterra and San Gimignano are extremely closeby as well as Chianti. There is a charm to the old town area of Colle di Val d'Elsa, not a ton of tourists like the other sites in the area.

What a lovely experience.

What a lovely experience. The Hotel is well situated, so you can enjoy the calm after a busy day of sightseeing. The staff is absolutely charming and very helpful. I had a beautiful room, and my dog enjoyed the walk around the vineyard. The meal and the delicious wine are, of course, a must in their sister hotel, Ultima Moulina. The little village of Radda in Chianti is sweet, and the whole surrounding area is just so beautiful. I will be back that is for sure. Thank you, David, the Hotel manager, and his wonderful staff.

This was our second visit to the Chianti region, and this time we decided to stay somewhere new. Palazzo Leopoldo is a beautiful historic property, full of character and charm. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, and the location is ideal for exploring the Tuscan countryside. One thing future guests should be aware of is that, because of the age and layout of the building, there are a lot of stairs. Our room was at the very top of the hotel, which wasn't a problem for us, but it could be challenging for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. It's worth requesting a lower-floor room if accessibility is a concern. Unfortunately, our experience with the reception staff was disappointing. They were not welcoming, came across as curt and unfriendly, never smiled, and often seemed annoyed when we asked for information or recommendations. First impressions are important, and the reception team sets the tone for a guest's entire stay. Sadly, the welcome we received fell well below what we expected from a hotel of this standard. Thankfully, the breakfast team more than made up for it, especially Sylvia. She greeted us every morning with a warm smile, genuine friendliness, and exceptional hospitality. Her positive attitude made breakfast a highlight of each day and was such a lovely way to begin the morning. She is a real asset to the hotel. Overall, Palazzo Leopoldo is an average hotel, but the attitude of the reception staff unfortunately overshadowed our stay. As this was our second visit to the Chianti region, we had hoped to find a new favourite place to return to. Sadly, because of the poor welcome and lack of hospitality at reception, we would not choose to stay here again.

What we loved most was the authentic Tuscan atmosphere, the fantastic breakfast, the peaceful surroundings and Francesco’s warm hospitality. The location is also ideal for exploring many of Tuscany’s beautiful villages. On the downside, the 1.3 km dirt road leading to the property is in poor condition – something to be aware of, especially if arriving at night or with a low car. The strict check-in time (only until 7pm) can be challenging for those travelling from afar. The room didn’t quite match the photos, and the bathroom was missing even basic toiletries like hand soap – something we found surprising and inconvenient. Tips for future visitors: Bring your own toiletries, especially if arriving by plane. Plan to arrive well before 7pm. Be prepared for a bumpy road – drive slowly and carefully. If you're an early riser, plan breakfast accordingly or bring a snack. Despite these small issues, the beauty of the place and the welcoming host made our stay special.
