Absolutely loved Karuizawa. We went for shopping, good food and snowboarding!Wanted a local Japanese stay that was a easy 10 minute walk from station. This was it, place was huge and had good review after searching using only google maps! Family friendly, exceptional staff and huge place that easily fits 10 adults if you make use of 2 beds, sofa bed and tatami mat/room. Whole family loved the place.

We had an amazing stay at Waqoo Naritasan Monzen on our last night in Japan. The atmosphere in the hotel is very authentic. The rooms are clean. The beds are very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel has very nice and relaxing bath area. The hotel is located in the middle of the Narita old town, which is great for exploring the area, nearby shrine and park. We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both are served as traditional Japanese meals. The food was delicious and added to the authentic experience staying at the hotel.

The staff, amenities, food and service were excellent. It was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations! It would have been helpful to know that there was a hotel shuttle from the train station to the resort. I don’t believe that was mentioned in the information received from our booking.

Great staffs, very attentive and helpful, their English is pretty good, too. We stayed in the Annex Wing, which is the renovated one. The building looks old but the room is very well-equipped with modern facilities. The room is also very clean and spacious. The window offered us a peaceful view over the front yard of the hotel with mountains in the back and autumn foliage. Our booking includes breakfast and dinner. Both are delicious with fresh ingredients. The menu is a bit limited though, in terms of variety of food, and we need to pay extra for some dishes. Still, we were happy with the size of the portions and quality of food. Last but not least, PERFECT location: just next to Shinkyo Bridge and a few steps away from the main Shrines. We could visit all of the main attractions on foot. There are also bus stops in front of the hotel, from which we can go to Chuzenji Lake as well as Nikko station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay a lot and felt very welcomed at Nikko Kanaya Hotel.

The atmosphere at the hotel is absolutely beautiful, situated in a location with stunning scenery. I particularly enjoyed the ambiance of the River View room, which comes with a private hot spring bath. As for the three public hot spring baths, they are also impressively large and beautifully designed. The buffet options for both dinner and breakfast offer a great variety of delicious dishes, evident from the high number of guests enjoying the service.

"Nikko is far too underrated", commented a friend who has stayed in Japan for the last 27 years. We are so thankful that we took up his suggestion to visit Nikko. This small town is surrounded by nature and UNESCO sites, so if you like nature / history, this is the place to go. If you ever visit Nikko during the summer months. Expect to be greeted by thousands of dragonflies, it only goes to show the clean ecosystem it has. Trek the mushlands that are child- and elder-friendly, try fishing the seasonal brook trout and sample the range of wonderful seasonal fruits. YOU MUST TRY THE PEACH.

I cam for a conference at G Messe.

I cam for a conference at G Messe. There is practically nothing to do, eat, or see between Takasaki Station and G Messe. If you are at G Messe and you need lunch, you can walk 6 minutes to a McDonalds or convenient store, or 10 minutes to some chain stores, or 18 minutes back to the station if you want any of kind of (still quite bad) variety. It's shocking that there would be a food desert in exactly the place that most visitors to Takasaki will go.

Kusatsu is one of my favourite onsen towns!

Kusatsu is one of my favourite onsen towns! It would definitely be nice to spend two nights exploring the city and its baths. In the summer, hiking routes are available, in the winter there is a ski resort close by, and the different onsen spots are easy to access by foot. There are plenty of restaurants in the town.

After Tokyo and other big cities it was really lovely being in Mito. My intention was to go slow and wander around and recharge a bit from travel for a few days - there was a typhoon passing through that week as well so I knew it would be a bit slower :) I went specifically to see Kairakuen one of Japans famous gardens - it was stunning! Full of history and anicent trees - I didn't go during blossom season and still i loved it. Walking around the nearby lake as well was amazing. There were also some really awesome Vietnamese restaurants there which I tried. I took the rapid express from Ueno to Mito and it was a great train ride - really easy and direct

Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.

Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.

Very wide, spacious, highly decent, and very clean city.

Very wide, spacious, highly decent, and very clean city. It is a well-planned city with wide roads, wide sidewalks with bicycle lanes, modern buildings, and a lot of parks. It is a great escape from the crowd and noise of Tokyo. You can go everywhere by biking. I wish though that the bike lanes would be rehabilitated because most are still the same old condition from 3 years ago.

It was a lovely place to visit!

It was a lovely place to visit! We climbed up to the Tenjin observation deck from the trail that begins behind a small shrine. It’s a challenging climb but well-marked and there are ropes the whole way to help pull yourself up tricky parts. We ate at the little Italian restaurant near Tanigawa Lodge and Coffee Roastery which I highly recommend, the pasta is great and they make homemade plum wine. I wish I could have done one more day to enjoy the onsens too.

The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs.

The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs. It has the Shiobara hot spring village, which has a rich spring quality and has been loved by royalty and literary masters. You can enjoy the traditional hot springs surrounded by nature in spite of the easy access from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is just an hour away from Tokyo. Each hot spring in the city is different in scale and taste, but it is an adult resort where you can spend your luxurious time by soaking in the hot spring to your heart’s content.

Very easy to find transport and meal options.

Very easy to find transport and meal options. Beautiful area with many kinds of activities but the Ropeway is out of action for repairs. I particularly liked visiting Yudaki falls which were stunning shortly after a typhoon. The cruise on lake Churizen is a must do. The temple area at Nikko is beautiful. I was using a walking stick and there is an excellent bus for mobility impaired people to go to the temple area and the beautiful Abyss gorge with the Buddha statues. 3 days was too short.
