Hotel is located in an excellent location near the megane bridge. It is within very close proximity to many attractions, shops and restaurants in Nagasaki. Check in was very easy and staff were kind and helpful. Room was small, but clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious - they even packed it to go for me!

The staff here were the best i have ever experienced at a hotel. Absolutely professional, kind, courteous and always willing to go the extra mile. Also the room was lovely, great views of the river and the city. Excellent bed, spacious shower. The food was also quite good, though you are paying hotel prices for the convenience.

The staff are very polite and professional. We were late for breakfast which had plenty of choices and the staff waited for us to finish. My husband got lost amongst the rooms and a cleaning lady led him all the way to our room. The changing room is big enough and well facilitated for bathing with a lot of choice of shampoo. There is the Nagasaki city view from the public bath. The Sky Cafe has a very nice night view of Nagasaki. We had dinner there and were very enjoyable. It's a short drive from the carpark of Slope Car of Inasayama. All these impressed me.

We enjoyed eating dinner by the marina, everyone very friendly and a nice outlook. The rope way up to the viewing point was fun and the view from the top as it got dark was fantastic. The setting sun was very relaxing to watch. The Glover house and accompanying buildings are not to be missed. Sitting having a bite to eat at the top had a fantastic view. Did not have many negatives but the trams were only 1 car and every single one was packed with school children at all times of the day.

Sasebo is heavily influenced by the presence of the US Navy 'Fleet Activities Sasebo' base, which can house thousands of servicemembers, contractors & family members along with the local JP support staff. Huis Ten Bosch, TEAMLAB art/light installation, and the scenic bay are draws, but in general, I find Sasebo to be a little jarring compared to other coastal towns in Kyushu. Locals are a little more wary of westerners since they deal with lots of US servicemembers, and local businesses are a little more touristy for the same reason. Nagasaki is even more beautiful geographically and has fewer Westerners; Kagoshima and Kumamoto are also both nearby and have the added bonus of being accessible via Shinkansen. I go to Sasebo occasionally for work -- I wouldn't really recommend to to people in Japan for sightseeing or travel.

Beautiful city with a tragic history that it presents in a dignified and moving manner. Easy to get around using the street cars, lovely people, eager to please; we needed another few days to do it justice. CASTELLA CAKE superb. Obviously the 'bomb' sites but we really recommend the Shiroyama National school which received the direct hit as no-one was there and it is incredibly moving - everyone seemed to be in the Peace park and the museum but this school says it all. PLEASE VISIT IT. It is free and is still a functioning school.

Really great seaside town with a large American influence due to the military base in town. The food was great and the night scene lovely as well, though I wish I had more time to visit the Bio Park - will plan to go next time! Haus Ten Bosch was a really unique experience and I'm glad I went!

I think the most outstanding quality of this hotel was the service of the staff. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to discover the island and its history. The driver was a local man who was very familiar with the interesting history of the island and answered all of our many questions. This is not to detract from an absolutely spectacular room with a window wall view of the ocean and the small islands in the distance. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and these meals were excellent.

It is a lovely city which also carries sad history including the execution of Catholic martyrs during 16-18 centuries and the nuclear bombing in 1945. Being Catholics, we spent time on pilgrimage by visiting sites and churches with historic significance. We also enjoyed the trip to Kujuku Islands in the Sasebo city and the famous night scene from the Inasa Yama Overlook. For dining and shopping, we went to Amu Plaza which is located at Nagasaki JR Station.

Sasebo is a good staging point for Catholic pilgrimage trips. We went to Hirado, Ikitsuki, and Kuroshima from here. The ferry options to the Goto Archipelago are limited here; Would try to go from Nagasaki if given the chance again. Sasebo is very westernized and their specialty dishes are steak and hamburgers. There are shopping arcades you can go and visit.
