The owner was a delight! He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The charming hotel is a historic landmark in the area from the 1600’s with beautifully restored common areas like the cozy gathering room with a huge fireplace and leather couches. The dining room was my favorite! The restaurant onsite was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Villa Solvorn is a cozy bed and breakfast. The entire home, inside and out were decorated with love. Oscar and his wife are kind and considerate owners . Aurland was incredibly beautiful.

Aurland was incredibly beautiful. We drove down from the mountains and visited the Stegastein Viewpoint on our way to Aurland. We spent some time doing activities based in Flåm (train to Mýrdal, zipline and bike tour, electric Naeryfjord cruise), but were happy to be sleeping in Aurland where it was quiet and peaceful. There's a grocery store, docks, a beautiful church and churchyard, a few restaurants and an amazing bakery. The one day there was a cruise ship in port, we happened to be busy in Flåm so we didn't see what the town was like on a port day.

Flaam train, well worth the stop. Close-by Viking Valley (Gudvangen) was interesting, good, worth the trip, but not a "must see" The overall scenery: incredible. The accommodations in flaam is limited and during tourist season, the cost is very high. There are cheaper accommodations within short driving distance.

This town is in a sunnier part, I couldn't get to Borgund stavkirke because there were no buses back on Sunday and there was no place to stay "for all money of the world" overnight and it was raining. So I bought a ticket and moved to Sogndal, and it solved all my problems, refreshed, built up, relieved my fatigue and inspired. It's in a valley, surrounded by beautiful mountain nature, clean, quiet and with friendly people.

Getting around Luster can be terrifying with one way streets and trucks. We enjoyed visiting the Stave Church nearby and Kafe Marifjora. Be aware there is a small grocery store and bakery in Luster. That's it. If you are up for it, the glamping set up looked far superior to the Inn. the setting is perfectly gorgeous. The host has elegant taste and puts that into the details. Otherwise, Luster is not close to anything.

Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous.

Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous. Not a whole lot to do except short hikes along the Fjord, or going on organized tours. In general, it is a good idea to check hiking possibilities on online sites before going somewhere in Norway. When the fjords are very steep that there aren't many easily accessible hikes, which we didn't anticipate. But the walk along the Fjord was jaw-dropping and you can go a long way. We tried to rent a bike and the minimum rental period was 3 hrs, and we didn't have that much time.( It is a small place so an hour's rental would have sufficed. ) The glacier museum was nice for 60-90 min.
